You CAN do it.
I went through years of refusing to even think about quitting because I was certain it was too difficult for somebody like me ... somebody as addicted as I was.... somebody who wanted to smoke as much as I did.
When I started quitting my husband, my sisters, my friends did not ask how I was doing or even ask if I was still trying. They were that convinced I could not and would not quit. I went through normal life, stress and prayed a lot :D It worked.
Please let us know how you're doing - what you're thinking.

Nice to see your past today. :)
For years I never thought much about quitting either - I simply "enjoyed" smoking too much to quit!! I was lucky enough to have some friends who were cheering me on when I finally decided to attempt to quit. But it was MY determination and commitment to become an ex-smoker that really got me through. :D

Sometimes when I am visiting with friends who still smoke I feel small twinges of wanting to smoke again but I know how hard it was to quit and get to where I am now, over one year smoke-free. I can't give in now after knowing how much healthier I feel being smoke free. :)
If I can manage to continue to do it so can anyone. :)

Hi Jenifer :)
Wow -- I started this thread in October of 2006! And, guess what? ... I haven't had even one cigarette .... not one.
Yes, I gained weight :o More than I should have. Boy, if I had it to do over I wouldn't. But every doctor I see (and it's been a bunch) says that the quitting is so very much more important for my health than the weight.
I gained weight because I just shoved candy in my mouth when I wanted to put a cigaretten in and things like that. And - this is astonishing - I'm starting to lose weight now without dieting. I don't know why.
I am a wobbling weakling - no kidding - but this makes me feel good about myself. I did a BIG thing. You can too.
