I had an emg showing lower leg and foot PN probably caused by diabetes 2.

More to the point, my neuro's nurse called, and the neuro wants to do a new spinal tab and new blood work. She (the neuro) thinks that after studying the emg results that I might have something treatable and so she wants new tests.

Does anybody know what she might be looking for?? what is treatable thing is she looking for...that new blood work or spinal fluid might show?

The neuro says I have some sort of unknown Leukodystrophy, could she be looking to determine the type of Leuko?

--a lumbar puncture is usally done, in neurological situations, to look for excess protein banding that might point to an autoimmune condition such as MS or chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP).

Thanks, Glenntaj, MS has been ruled out.My MRI shows damages in wrong areas, and damage is too diffuse and too symmetrical to be MS. I'll start reading on CIDP right away. What about genetics links?

--do you actually have on MRI?

Are they limited to brain, or do you have any in the spinal cord?

A number of conditions can result in such findings--MS is one, but so are migraine, ADEM (acute disseminated encephalomyelitis), B12 deficiency; thre is even some evidence that neurological gluten autoimmunity may produce such lesions . . .
