Hi Faith,

Welcome to BT,
I really don't have any advice for you other than to listen to what your son says.
The behavior could be anything, he may act out in school for attention, whether it is negative attention or laughter from the other kids.
It sounds like you are on the right path as far as therapy goes. I had to take my oldest son to therapy when he was just a little older than your son. He is 28 and a wonderful man.
Don't be hard on yourself, I learned alot about my son and his feeling when he told me.

Take care,
Kathy

A lot of times anxiety can ride on the heels of an underlying condition like ADD or Bipolar, things like that. Was the med prescribed by a psychiatrist or his physician. He is going to therapy so I assume he is also seeing a pdoc?! You are on the right track. I have a 15 yr old who has been in therapy since he was about 5 and takes many meds for anxiety, ADD, and Bipolar Disorder. He also is in therapy. Your therapist can make a more informed analysis and let you know if he thinks more is necessary and make recommendations to the pdoc. It is a long frustrating road but they are worth it. Just impress upon him how important it is to take the meds because as he gets older he may begin to balk and also the risk of suicide with some meds is higher for teens. So eyes and ears open at all times. Don't think that just because the meds are working that your son is doing just fine and leave it at that. I am sure you don't. Keep up the good work and good luck.

Hope you let us know, I have generalized anxiety disorder, and would like to help you.

I have been reading alot of articles lately, children having lead poisoning, alot get it from there schools. Also vitamin difficiences. All sorts of things could be happening. But when you give a young child drugs You have to be sure. It takes a good year or more to give an accurate dx. They do cause suicide in children and other problems. sorry hope to hear from you. Take Care and Good Luck with your son.

Dr. Phils web site has alot of info on ....... Sophie
