Dear Laura,
As always you are spot on and right there with the best info.
After 7 years of leaking and nobody able to figure it out, my regular CT scan came back with a "slight thinning of the sella". The doc that ordered the scan completly missed that, so I went to another hospital, as I thought WHY would this area start thinning and why did a radiologist bother to mention it???The 70 year old doc kept saying nothing was wrong with me, but that my sella was thinning. He repeated it twice and said I don't know much about that area... ;-( , but did say well maybe you should see a Neurosurgeon. If I did not go home and get my fingers to the keyboard and find out that the sella area could start thinning becasue of a CSF leak, I would't be diagnosed yet.
So, the question is, do you have to have a slow, low volume leak for 6+ years to thin this sella area before it gets diagnosed? The chronic sinusitus, and symptoms I have are text book forr csf rhinnorhea leak, but 40+ docs missed it and just kept throwing nasal sprays at me, etc.Thank God for this super Neurosurgeon that knew and believed me that any kind of extra intracranial prressure such as valsalving can cause a leak!
Thanks for all the info!
As always,
Nancy Drew and csf leak detective
p.s. Will have more info after my 24 lumbar punture/cisternogram/pledglet study after Tues., as we think I am still leaking and the graft when THATA WAY! (It shifted)
