Hello all!
I'm here because I suffered a severe head injury in an auto accident in 1996. My head injury caused significant memory and socialization problems and changed my personality. Those I've dealt with okay. I have techniques to deal with the memory trouble that are now part of my life... I barely recognize I'm doing them anymore. At least until someone asks me why I do so and so. Socialization is still a problem. I'm good at surface stuff, but it's hard to become any closer. I can remember what I was like 'before' my injury, but it's been so long since who I am is just who I am.
The injury also brought on my epilepsy. I've been on what seems like every drug known to man. In May 2007 and again in December 2007 I had brain surgery to try and solve the problem. The May surgery didn't work (obviously), but I'm hopefull about the December surgery. I've had 2 seizures since. Hopefully they were just post-op. We'll see...
I post very often on the Epilepsy Foundation's community forum and hope this forum will also be very helpful.
Sorry I typed a novel. I tend to do that.
Take care,
Lisa
