I just got a pop-up on my screen: a script error is causing this page to
run slowly. Do you want to abort the script?
The page in question was My MSN page. I have no idea what the "script
error" is about-I've had the same page for 6 years and it looks okay to me!
Anybody know what this is?
Thanks!:)

They are constantly working and changing things behind the scenes of MSN. Are you using Internet Explorer, MSN Explorer, or something like Firefox or Opera for your web browser? Have you updated your web browser lately.
There are any number of reason that you can get a script error including outdated Java machine and other programs like Zone Alarm that work in the background. Unless you are always getting the script error I would not pay too much attention to it. It might have had more to do with something that was on the page at the time than anything else.
I would say, if you are running Windows then use Disk Cleanup and then run Disk Defragmenter then restart your computer. If you are on a Mac then use the Disk Utility and Repair Permissions with First Aid.
Hope that helps.

I'm using Internet Explorer and now I see what the "script error" is: there
are parts of the banners on my page that aren't showing up. You're right,
I don't always get the script error, so I guess MSN is working on something.
I suppose I'll have to wait it out for a while.
Thanks!

You can always try another web browser like Firefox if it get too annoying. There are updates for IE (including a new version 7) available which should in theory make it more compatible with MSN's pages. If you have an older computer or not much memory (RAM) I would not recommend upgrading to IE7 though.
Good luck.

It seems to be working okay at the moment, but if it acts up again, I may
switch to the Yahoo browser. I'd rather not upgrade a browser or download
a new one if I don't have to, y'know?;) :D
Thanks!:)

You'll get those script errors from time to time on most sites on the www.
Just ignore the pop up (unless the page is hanging...then leave or refresh) and continue on your merry way :)

I'll tell you what I've been getting: "shaking pages". Remember
back before cable ( ), when the portable TVs had those
wire antennas on top? Occasionally, you'd get a picture that
would "shake" back and forth, or the picture would "shiver".
Like if you threw a stone in a pond and watched the water
rippling. The cursor also shakes and sometimes disappears.
It doesn't happen all the time, but it's happened a couple of
times today and I'm not sure if it's a problem with the computer,
or the internet. I tried both IE and Verizon Yahoo and it happened
both times.
Any ideas what this might be?
Thanks!:)

Is this happening only on the msn site?

No, it's any site I go to, including my own site and here.

Have you run all of your protection programs? IE Spybot, ad-aware, anit virus, etc etc

Sorry I'm late with this reply. I subscribed to the thread, but I'm not
getting messages: Apparently, there was a computer problem. Right
after I posted my last message and went back to my own site, I got
a huge popup screen, about a "stuck key". Supposedly, the Delete
key was stuck. Interesting, since I was only trying to browse my
favorites and wasn't deleting anything. I got the key "unstuck"
and haven't had any problems since then, but the whole thing
doesn't make sense. How does a "stuck key", that I wasn't even
using, cause the screen to shake and the cursor to disappear???
And, why did it take so long for the "warning" to show up?

I dunno, that's a little odd.
Maybe somebody else used the puter?

No,nobody else was home when this happened. Another odd thing I've
noticed is that if I have to restart the computer (for whatever reason),
when the computer starts back up, the Number Lock light is lit. I've
never used the Number Lock key since I've gotten this PC. Could it
be a problem with the keyboard?

Have you checked all your connections? Loose connections can cause odd problems.

The connections seem to be fine. I check them every time this happens.
The only other thing that I can think of is that it's a problem with the
keyboard.
One thing that I forgot to tell you is that my PC is a "mutt": the CPU is
a Dell, the screen is custom made and the keyboard is a Packard Bell.
The CPU was originally a Packard Bell, too, but when we upgraded it
from Windows '95 to Windows XP, they brought back a Dell CPU.
Do you think I need to get a new keyboard?

No the numlock is on by default when you first boot up. It is possible to turn it off, but then you'd have to turn it on again when you use the number pad.
Just odd that the del key got stuck.

Shaky pages are usually the monitor frequencies changing and can be an indication of a bad video card or a monitor getting ready to die...
As far as script errors go.. They are scripts in the web pages you are trying to view. Or in the case of MSN may be an error in the script of an ad.. These are annoying and yes continue on..
In your browser if you go to tools/Internet OPtions/advanced/browsing there are two boxes there that start with "DIsable Script Debugging" make sure both are checked.. When they are errors messages for script errors are not displayed...
Hope this helps...
