Ok, so Katie's favorite thing.. well one of them is to play ball. SO why not start there? This morning I signed ball. The first 3 times she would just clap her hands. The sign for ball is just too close to looking like hand clapping, so I adjusted it a little. I clawed my fingers towards each other, like the ASL sign for ball, but instead of tapping my fingers together, I kept them about 6 inches apart and twisted them back and forth in opposite directions (think like you are trying to open a jar... just back and forth.. and after showing her 1 time and then hand over hand 1 time... this is what I got....

Pretty cool! It's still really big and gross movements, no twisting really... kinda looks like a big open hug (plus my camera is on a second/second and a half delay, so I never get a good shot! Sooo aggravating!) But it's a GREAT start! She also said buh a couple of times... sounds/vocalization is always hit or miss with her.. she's just a quiet kid!

Great - she has such potential to do this. You can do it hand over hand as a correction. Get her to immitate you first and then do it hand over hand to better refine the movement.

Carly does not immitate. But, for example, with pointing, we get her to do it first and then help her to make it clearer if necessary.

Yeh, I kinda think she's cute too... but in serious need of a haircut!!!!
Nah, I didn't make the sleeper! but I really like it :) :) I have too much "work" sewing to do I'm not getting much time for personal stuff. :(
