Heya,
I was hiking through a "wildlife preserve" area, in the southern area of San Francisco Bay, called Coyote Hills Regional Park, last Saturday. This place has lots of wildlife. I really get into taking pictures of the Birds of Prey there.
I was walking down the trail, and saw this right in front of me...

They are called "Owl Pellets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pellet_%28ornithology%29)". This is done by regurgitation. Obviously, by the picture, the owl also probably at the same time did the same from the other end...heh
I saw the size of these pellets, and at the time & remarked, "..how large they were," & that IMO, "Could only come from a Great Horned Owl."
Coincidently, about 15 minutes later, we came upon a tree with this handsome creature perched in its branches...

I couldn't believe my eyes....
In broad daylight, just before 3:00pm!!!
As I'm sure most know, the Great Horned Owl is mostly a nocturnal bird.
Perhaps he has insomnia??? We have an Insomnia Forum here....lol
A BrainTalk Bird???
Well, he can be a graphic here at BT for everyone to use...
*great horned owl
After all it is Him in that picture.
More pictures from this great place to follow in the future.... (Some are yet to be taken.)
