Dave as far as I know they can't be give out that way. I know my doctor only needs to see me every three months [v. the once a month that used to be required] to continue to prescribe my opiates and that may be the confusion about the three months.

In Dec the DEA agreed to allow docs to write 3 Rxs (2 post dated) (30 days each) at one office visit. However... some state laws prohibit a pharmacist from filling Rxs after a certain period ... Kentucky law is 60 days - the Rx becomes null/void... So depending on which state you live in .. the answer could be yes - no - maybe ... of course... the DEA cannot mandate that a doc write for 90 days supply... just say that it is permissible .. if the doc wants to...

My doctor did not even know--saw him yesterday and he gave me a 90 day supply, since I am stable--but said, "I don't know if they will fill this, they may have to call me and have me change it"--well, I took it to the pharmacy and they filled it without a problem--this is a schedule II medicine. So, in Florida at least, it is OK. May not be the same in other States--whitfield

Whitfield,

I live in Florida as well and my pharmacy and doctor both told me they can only give a 30 day script.
Wonder if there is still some confusion on this issue or if it's up to the doctor and pharmacy?
