We really don't know what is going on. The have come outta of no where really and they are gettting worse. They seem to be affected by stress, but when they start she gets more stressed, so it becomes circular. Also, seems to be from lack of sleep, but she is alot like her mom on the sleep road She sleeps poorly and always has. She says they feel almost like an electric shock---OH YEAH she is 25 almost 26 ---her Pain Doc is stumped. Some times the come out like a jerk, sometimes like a wave, and they seem to always hurt . Her hand gets stucks sometimes when she is writing with a pen, and she has to pry her fingers apart, not sure if that has anything to do with it.And her middlefinger will start shaking.
Her nuero thinksis COULD MAYBE bea Sizure disorer, FMS, or very unlikely she MAY have devoled Tourettes. But thatis unlikley. WE have alot oftest to be run. $$$$$ is an issue, but she is trying to MSI so THAT is cool (MSI is STAte OR COUNTY INSURANCE.-SO MOM AND DAD DON'T HAVE TO PAY!!!!) But, pay we will if it some how gets denied We have paid for what we could so far Some day soon she will have to go Medically Bankrupt..anyone know anything about THAT?
If you could help her with ideas of what is going on with her Twitches, it would be so cool. Daughter Rider would eally apprecaite it.(I guessI could always just callher Twitchie she said);)
And remember Things will be great in 2008!:D

Has she possibly been seen by a rheumatologist? ruled in/out for potential soft-tissue condition(s)/disease?
What struck me, with too much familiarity, is where you noted about her writing and having to pry her fingers apart.
I have collagen disease, and a crapload of arthritis; one of the things that happens is that my fingers will (quite unexpectedly and, still, shockingly, even to me) suddenly lock. It's as if they are frozen. It's as if the sheathing or "stuff" that envelopes the tendons or whatever solidifies. My thumb, and index finger, primarily, are affected. The onset can be when I'm using scizzors, holding a knife, a pen or something.
The twitching? I dunno. Possibly nerves, stress and tension. I've gone through it with my eyes.
Just time, relaxation, and not being focused on the twitching did help. I still feel it, at times, yet it is prominent when I've had a great deal of eye strain (from reading, etc.).
In addition, I know that due to all the problems with my C-spine and nerve compression, my hands have "clawed." For me, the resolution came from PM (pain management) procedures.
I'm not saying that your daughter is going through the same as I have, but just putting the info. about myself out "there" in the event that it might help (you, her or someone else) :).

I have fibro and I jerk and twitch a lot. Some of it is the nerves, the "electric" ones (jerks)*ack , others are muscles (the twitchies)*grimace. My hands hurt and get locked up if I write too much or they just do it. I'd go to a rhuemie to get checked.

I have Fibro also and I have some of the problems your daughter has. Like
Lil E said I would get your daughter to a rheumie.

Mama,
I might be Myoclonus. I had it for quite a while but it eventually went away. They treat it with benzo's, if memory serves me.

Hi Mamarider,
Twitches can be caused by just about anything the irritates the nervous system/brain. Check out my latest OT thread about Lyme Disease. There is a little video and two of the people of have "twitches", a young man and at the end, the pretty blond gal with her hair in a pony tail. It is remote but, just a thought. I also had the electric shock type zaps that would come out of nowhere and dropped cups of coffee, etc.
DX on this is frustrating....I wish you the best.

_________________bump___________________ cause we really needs some help and some answers here. Any other ideas would be great!
On the UP SIDE, she started COLLEGE las Thurs. She is taking a Photo class for digital cameras, her fathr and I got her a really pretty goo Nikon for an early B-day gift. People, this is her fist real step out of the house on herown, so YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! Eve in all her pain and twitches, she is trying to "get a life" I am so proud of her. So if we could find some help with her twitches, and her pain, it would be the icing on the cake, ya know?

One of my thoughts, if she is on any medications, twitching and tremors are often a fairly common side effect of medications that deal with the brain and/or nervous system. They can be especially noticable or even seen for the first time if she has increased her dosage, added other meds, etc. I've experienced this with many of my seizure meds and even some of my pain meds (Elavil when combined with some of my seizure meds made them especially noticable).
Just my .02 ....
