Hi All,
This is only partly OT as pain is a huge component of Lyme Disease.
This is a clip from a movie in the process of being made about Lyme Disease.
I was wondering what your reactions(any reaction) you have or questions that arise when you view this clip. I saw this at a screening a year ago as I live in Connecticut and the cases of LD are very high here and the producers were looking for $ to continue. At that time I gave my reaction but, I do have alot of experience with Lyme Disease issues. Was curious what the general public thought before I donate any more $.
Thank you for taking the time,
Diandra

I've been wanting to see this documentary for quite sometime. Has it been completed? I have seen the trailer but seems like that is all there is.

Hi Q,
No, it is not finished. Here is an email I got about it today I guess because I donated in the past.
Hope you are doing OK.

This is for those of you who are following the Open Eye Production of “Under Our Skin”. This is a documentary film focusing on the suffering Lyme patients face in daily life.

From Kris:

We’re very excited to announce that a 30-minute sample of our Lyme documentary, UNDER OUR SKIN, has put us in the running for the prestigious IFP “Award for Socially Conscious Documentaries.” In addition, we were awarded a screening slot at IFP Market, which will place the rough cut of our film in front of high-level broadcasters and distributors in September.

Interest in the film has been high, with packed fundraising screenings in five cities; a pitch meeting with HBO; and interviews with national publications such as The Washington Post, The Scientist, and Forbes (…well, we tried). And with President Bush’s announcement that he’s been treated for Lyme, and Michael Moore’s SICKO film making health care an election issue, we feel the time is right for this film.

We’re now in the homestretch for completing our rough cut for Sundance Festival submission, and we’d like to call on the Lyme disease community to help us out in this final sprint. Even if you’re not able to financially assist us, please help us spread the word among your friends, family, and influencers, so we can create a groundswell of excitement for our upcoming screenings. (We’ve placed our 5-minute film trailer back on our main website, so that you can easily forward it via email.)

And thanks again for all your support and stories!!

Diandra, thanks for the link. I didn't know such severe pain was one of the aspects of Lyme's disease. The cases I was aware of had pain but not the severe pain shown or the twisted fingers ect. It made me more aware of how severe the disease can get.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the response....I can always count on your for that. One of the reasons the film is being done is because America has largely been kept in the dark about how devastating Lyme Disease can be. The pain can be unbearable once the bacteria gets into the CNS and it is very hard to eradicate. Personally, I had never had a migraine in my life until I got bit and then I had them daily, had to live in a darkened room with my head under pillows. Have been left with apparently permanent trigeminal neuralgia also along with all over joint and muscle pain that was mis-dx'ed as FMS.

It has been theorized that the reason it has been kept low key, at least here in Connecticut, is because real estate values dropped after the illness was named Lyme Disease after Lyme, Connecticut and supposedly census dropped in CT. Who would want to move to a town or a state where you can get Lyme Disease?

The other thing that has amazed most of us who have gotten terribly ill and lost our jobs, and in some cases folks have died, is that, why is this being squelched throughout the US? Why are so many docs trying to say this illness is no big deal and why are docs who treat it aggressively being prosecuted like the two docs in the clip. It is rather frightening. If it is such a "no big deal" disease, why would state medical boards be trying to remove doctors licenses who are trying so hard to cure it?

Take care,
Diandra

P.S. Just finished watching "Oswald's Ghost" on PBS and conspiracy theories are swirling in my head...hence the vehemence of my post;)
