Hello again.
Just an update to all -
We are buying a new house on Thursday. It is 15 minutes from where we live. But, we will be 15 minutes closer to Jeremy's school (Charter school, so we have to transport) and Carly's school is about 1 1/2 miles, if that. The house is in a village called Shelburne Falls. Check it out on the internet. Lots of conveniences for a small country town. Hopefully, our lives will be a little less hectic there.
Jeremy is at the ER right now with Duane. He was playing baseball with a tennis ball and got wacked in the eye. So, the doctor wanted it to be checked out. He was seeing a spot (like after looking at the sun) for a little while. His eye was red and teary.
Carly is Carly. Rather fussy on the weekends and tired during the week. We are working with a behaviorist. And, I realized that she is doing what I've wanted someone to do for years. We need Carly to learn good behavior when she isn't being actively engaged. Plus, she stims (spits, yells) to fill in the empty space so to speak. They are working on stradegies to lessen this. I've been asking for this for years, but in a different way. Now we are using the ABA approach in it's true form and hoping for results.
Today was Pirate Day at school. It is booster week, so each day has a theme. Yesterday was pajama day. Today, I downloaded Pirate Flags and taped them to the wheels of her wheelchair.
She is doing well with her own academic work according to staff. And our beloved teacher, Lynn, is back with her. Lynn was hired as Carly's teacher 5 years ago. The school district realized what a gem she is and has her working with other students as well. So, this year they brought her to the middle school. Carly is in 8th grade. But, we will insist that she work with Carly next year. She gets the best results and knows ABA. She needs help from the behaviorist, but I trust her to carry out a program.
As for me, I am overworked right now. I've stopped accepting cases because I need to catch up. Plus, we are going to move during the next month. Too much.
The realtor is having an open house to show our house on Saturday. It is Fall Festival in our town and that draws a lot of people. All we need is 1 to make an offer! Anyone wanting to move to Massachusetts?
