Well I went to the ER clinic yesterday for my ankle. I was going shoe shopping and made it to one place and didn't find what I wanted so was going somewhere else and my ankle hurt and I thought well this is ridiculous, I am tired of dealing with the pain and the swelling and it is not getting much better. So I pull out of shoe place and go down the road to the ER clinic and they take Xrays and then I am informed that my outside ankle bone was fractured and has already started healing but of course due to the nature of the injury I have stretched ligaments and tendons. So they sent me to the nearby ortho clinic for a cast and they redid xrays and since it had healed so much they put this removable gel splint/cast thingy on it to keep it to keep it immobilized while I am mobile. No walking on it, use crutches and lots of ice, physical therapy after about a week for a month and then back to ortho. I saw the ortho who did my knee surgery and at first he didn't realize it was me until he really looked at me and then got a big grin on his face and says "WHAT DID YOU DO?". So I have been walking on a fractured ankle since about Dec. 18th. Good lord, I figured it was just a sprain and would go away. Some days it doesn't pay to leave the house. Oh yeah and the pain management doc that my rheumie said would actually treat me with something besides injections decided to go back into strictly anaesthesia and according to my primary's very inefficient staff they are not currently taking new patients with my insurance. So at this point I am going to make some phone calls and find out what is really going on.
Hope you are all having a better day than I am.

Christina, I am glad you got your ankle looked at. Now you have to be good and stay off the ankle to let it heal the right way. No wonder your ankle was bothering you so much:eek:

Christina--
so sorry you had to deal with a hurt ankle before finally figuring out what was wrong. Same thing happend to me a few years ago--- one day my foot just started hurting; x-rays were done that came back negative and I was refferred to an orthopedic doctor. A few months later when I finally got into the ortho, he did x-rays and told me it was broken (with the type of break I had, it is common for it not to show on early x-rays), lol. I hope yours heals quickly !

Wow, sorry to hear the bad news..
I believe that those of us that suffer with CP have a tendency to try and blow off new pains such as the one you have for many reasons, one we just don't want any new pains and keep hoping it will go away om its own and then it begins a whole new round of Dr appointments.
Good Luck and I wish you a speedy recovery..

Christina,
Unbelievable that you let it go that long with that kind of pain:eek: , however I understand too how we get to thinking "it will probably get better in another day or two"...and the next thing you know, more than a week has passed:o . I hope you feel better soon. Stay off that foot!;)
Best wishes,
Kim

Christina,
Gosh girl you must've been hurting so much!! Like Linda said though since we're in pain 24/7 anyway it's easy to think that if we just take it easy the "new" pain will go away.
Glad you got it looked at and now you just need to be a good girl and stay off of it!!
