Rozia, this is another example of why we need to let the market not gov't edict determine what we will buy. As more of our states require this, ie CA, we are going to run into more of these problems because gov't making our choices doesn't work for all of us. As people are made aware of the money savings from the use of these bulbs more of us will use them, we are increasing the use in our home, and our society will benefit from the energy savings.

The benefit of a free market is individuals get to make the decision that works best for them and as a result our demand will create products that benefit our society.

Hi Rozia,
It is SO interesting you bring this article up. I was away from home a couple weeks ago and my husband changed all our lightbulbs over to the energy saving kind and I am prone to having these little seizures called "partial complex seizures"....within a minute of sitting next to a reading lamp with the new bulb I started to have that strange feeling I get before a seizure and I quickly turned the light off. Every time I was near one, it made me feel funny so we had to switch them back to regular bulbs for all the lights I am closest to.

Thanks for the article as I thought I was going nuts. I will show it to my husband so he does not think I am just plain loony!(Well, not about this issue anyway!!!).

Thanks for sharing,
Diandra

Rozia,

Thanks for the article. :) I find it interesting as well. And I cannot stand the flourescent or the energy savings kind. When I was working, and grant you that's when the headaches and neck pain came on, the (flourescent) lighting in the building just killed me. That along with bright white walls just did me in. I had to look at the floor when walking. And I used to tell anyone who would listen...please paint these stark walls and get rid of that lighting! :) Now, my husband did put a couple of the energy savings bulbs in some lamps downstairs. That doesn't bother me because I am not sitting in the family room that much. But he also put one in the light above our kitchen table; it drives me nuts! Soooo...I think there is something to migraines and the type of lighting.

My husband put one of these bulbs in our basement. While down there putting away the Christmas boxes I found myself feeling really weird. I told him to replace the bulb and not to use another bulb of that type in the house. When he hears or reads the part about the seizure he may be less inclined to use them as well....
