>>>>>>>Greetings<<<<<<<
I hope this finds you well.It certainly is good to be back.
I have since my last visit been put on a new med. It's called effexor on the label, vandral retard on the box and has the given name venlafaxine.
Anyone know anything more than i do about them ?
I know they are a complex ssri that are used as an anti-psychotic.My episodes were called that before i was considered bipolar.
A lot of meds have had the reverse or some previously unreported side effect on me.
This could be due to the frontal lobe damage i sustained as a teen motorcyclist.
So any reply would be good, either on this thread or as a personel message.
Thanks a lot and i'll be seeing you.
Zoso

this has only been up a couple of days.
I hope that you are getting your meds stabilized..... and that you are doing alright.

Dear Zoso,
It is good to see you again.

I have not been on Effexor but others have. Maybe they will stop by.
Here is a wikipedia discussion about Effexor.

Just a quick note as I've got to run.

I don't know if you're on other meds, such as a mood stabilizer, but Effexor was harmful to me as a stand alone med. It caused me to be irritable and angry and caused myoclonic jerks. I went through a terrible withdrawal when coming off of it.

I'm not saying this to discourage you from taking it, but just to encourage you to make sure your doctor is aware of the potential problems of taking it for bipolar depression (assuming you're not on a mood stabilizer).

I'm new at this, so please take my experience as just that - my personal experience.

Best wishes,
Julie
