Hello All,
Im still suffering over here. not knowing what is wrong with me. Im writing to ask those survivors of a rupture or those who were diagnosed before a rupture happened if they had any symptoms? From most that I read Annies dont usually have symptoms but asking those who actually experienced this will get me the best answer. Please your thoughts.

Thanks,
Lou

I can only speak for my particular rupture, but I had no warning. I was awakaned at 4:00 in the morning by my kitty cats. I went to the bathroom, came back to bed and it hit.

I'd also be curious to know if others had any warning signs. Some people I've spoken with said they had horrible headaches and were mis-disagnosed with migraines. I get migraine, so I knew this was VERY different.

Hi Lou
I had a ruptured annie in sept 05. I woke during the night with a severe headache, stiff neck and aches on my right side. I rang work and told them I wasnt coming in, very unusual for me and I saw the doc later that day. he said I had pulled a muscle in my neck, by now i was vomiting as well. Saw chiropractor the next day and she said she had never seen such a stiff neck. My husband took me to local hospital that night, he injected me with painkillers!! Apart from seeing doctors I spent the rest of the time in bed I think, I rang my best friend apparently as we had been invited for dinner and told her I was feeling unwell but would have a sleep and would be fine for dinner. The next afternoon my husband rang the doc as i tried to walk down stairs and was totally disorientated and he called the ambulance, little memory of the rest!!
Take care Hatty x

No symptoms for me - unruptured annie found during routine MRI/MRA. I had it clipped twelve months later.

Guess I was just lucky.

I had a ruptured annie. They say that they aren't any symptons with most ruptures but I think that if I would have went to the doctor an MRI would have been done.
For about a year I started having symptons of allergies which I was never bothered with before. I had received allergy meds but never fully felt releive like people said I should but I never went back to the doctors to ask about it. Now 20/20 hindshight would have helped me then to realize that it wasn't allergys it was the annie slowly bleeding little by little.
The last few days before the rupture I started to hear rushing in my ears when I laid down to go to sleep again it was the week of Thanksgiving a lot was going on between home and work. I remember thinking after Thanksgiving I had to get into the doctor's and find out what was wrong. Now comes Wednesday and one of my co-workers came to work with a bad cold. I started to have a running nose, headache and shift neck and yes I was pissed at her for giving me a cold. I started downing non-asprin. Well on Friday morning the annie ruptured full blown. Here we find out that it really wasn't a cold it was fluid that surrounds the brain that was making me blow my nose. Yes, it was coming out of my nose for two days.
After the rupture the symptons of allergeries disappeared I don't beleive I ever had allergeries. The doctor says that the annie could have been leaking very little and masking it self. I was asking alot of people who have allergeries what their symptons were and none matched what I had been going through. 20/20 hindsight would have been great during that time.
Take care, Dawn

I didn't have any symptoms for my unruptured aneurysm. Doctor sent me for MRI ... Said I was having symptoms for MS. They didn't find MS ... MRI showed the aneurysm. Family calls it "divine intervention" ... Once the diagnosis of an aneurysm all of the symptoms that made them do the MRI disappeared (before my stent and coiling).

Lou: It started on a Thursday, I felt like I was getting the flu, particularly since my daughter had just gotten over it. My head and the back of my neck felt particularly achy. Friends said that I told them that my head was really hurting. Still didn't feel well on Friday, but I did manage to cook dinner etc. for my family. I collapsed at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday and was taken by ambulance to the hospital where the rupture was diagnosed. Spent 3 weeks in ICU following a coiling procedure. My advice is get medical attention with any severe headache. Hope this helps.

Lou,

I didn't have a rupture but the symptoms that led to the discovery of my aneurysm were headaches (ones that felt like someone hit my head with a hammer) and vertigo. My doctor thought it might be MS. Since clipping surgery I haven't had the same symptoms.

Good luck,
Anne

Went to work for 8 hours - went to the gym after-was on the treadmill doing quite well and that's when my world went black, it was just like someone was pulling a shade down over my eyes. So my answer is no symtoms at all- it really rocked my world. - Suggestion, talk to y. our doctor and get an MRI/MRA. Hope you can work this out.

Hi Lou,
My rupture happened on Wednesday 2nd Feb.2005, and yes i still remember my symptoms :( . The day started as usual then became hectic as a emergancy arose with my step niece at school (10.30 am)she was transported to hospital after having a asthma attack (she OK :) ),
upon returning to the school to collect my step niece belongings, all of a sudden I thought I was going to faint putting it down to missing breakfast I proceded back home with my brother and his wife, as I was driving along suddenlly my neck bacame achy and stiff:eek: once I arrived home(12.30pm) I was having migraine symptoms, taken meds to help this (as I was a migraine sufferer anyway),I still couldn't shake it off so I proceded to have a extra HOT shower as this has help before  I found that the migraine was getting worse, neck stiffness was still there and I didn't have the energy to dry myself asked my sisterinlaw to help :o dry me. as I didn't have any energy I put myself into bed, migraine was becoming worse to the stage I thought my head was about to explode:eek: I could take it no longer asked my brother to call my DR and husband, they both arrived at about 5pm. Dr checked me over and said that I was going to hospital and the ambulance was on the way (Dr thought it was meningitis)
the next thing Iremember was having a CT procedure this showed up a 15mm Annie, I was then rushed to one of our major city hospitals (I remember bits and pieces before going into surgery a 10 hour procedure)The next day I woke to learn that I suffered Multiple Annie ruptured with 5 Annies involved:eek: also included during the explovise migraine symptoms was vomiting to.
Sorry this has been a long version, Since then I have had another 3 surgeries in exactly 1 year and have had a total of 9 Annies clipped with 3 Annies still left unprotected  (Hope my story helps)

Hi Lou, I had a rupture last Nov 30th. I had a sharp headache above my eye for at least a week or so before the rupture. Also had on and off double vision. I always have headaches so I really didnt think anything of it. Of course the double vision was concerning me but I come from a family of "If you ignore it , Itll go away" so I didnt go to the dr. They coiled my anni on Dec 1st and I had coils added about 3 months later, because of compression. They found it on a followup angio. Ill be due for another angio soon. Hopefully all will be well. HOpe this helps. Jane

Hi ,reading everyones stories is an eye opener . I had a double clipping on an 7-8 mm annie that was found due to MS type symptoms ,looking back I think I had a slow leak off an on for years I remember feeling heat like I was standing too close to a heat sorce ,the attack that led to the hospital and the MRI started very juickly ,I was out in my garden prunning trees feeling fine ,came in house to get lunch ready when all of a sudden I felt sick to my stomac ,and so sleepy and tired I had to go lay down ,fell asleep and slept for 3-4 hrs. No head pain but pain in my arm pits and in my legs ,thought it was a flue ,later went to take a shower and discovered I could not feel the temp of the water ,I could not feel heat but cold hurt so bad but only on right side of body ,like a stroke my right side has been weak ever since. But DR kept looking into the MS and it seems that a lot of us have had MS type symptoms . Also I started with what I thought were allergies ,I am Chemicaly Senesetive, and go to an Enviormental Health center for that .I waited 2 yrs after my dx of annie to have surgery ,Dr. said it was one that was 50/50 chance with or without surgery. So looking back as well as at the others  stories I believe there are warning signes but we do not reconize them . Snap

No symtoms at all - was on treadmill at my gym when my rupture happened - it's a very scarey thing - I wish I had some symtoms before the rupture, I definately would have pushed for some tests to be done!

I saw my regular doc 12 hours before the aneurysm for headache, rushing noises in my ear, eye twitch and heart palpitation. We were not treating me for an aneurysm; it was a routine visit. She prescribed a visit to the cardilogist, and cleaning my eye with baby shampo. Next morning, I fell over on my living room floor. Thank goodness my son was home and got me to the hosptial (over my protests!) and the docs there recognized what was going on even though the CT scans were ambiguous (I am told) and got me by helicopter to a great hospital in Dallas for clipping.

I had headaches before my rupture, 14 May 2004, but nothing major. I have heard of some having migraine like headaches, but mine were more an annoying dull ache. I did mention this to my Doc but he never thought too much of it so neither did I. All put down to stress.
I guess I'm one of the lucky one's as I don't suffer from headaches now. I know others still do though.

Just before it happened i was in the house cleaning and i felt a bit dizzy, my husbant gave me some calcium, one hour later i was in the pool swimming and i felt the muscles of my neck contracting and i got to the hospital with thw worst pain ever. At the hospital they gave me miorelaxants and they sent me home. Then the headaches started and vomiting. I thought they will go but 3 days later, I was feeling better though one doctor that came home to see me sent me to have a CT scan and the doctors saw the bleeding. That was it, I got in the intensive care and 2 days later I had the surgery.

Lou,
I didn't have any symptoms at all. I was at a grocery store which was being re done so they had some temporary lights, which were really bright, in the produce dept. I remember looking at one of those bright lights and then IT hit. I felt a huge explosion in my head and immediatly felt my head get really hot on my left side. I told my husband I had to sit down and he helped me to the fish dept. where there had always been benches, but the benches were gone. I sat on a case of beer and held my head with rushing sounds in my ears and feeling cold and then hot. My head was unbelieviably painful. The woman from the fish counter got me a cold paper towel for the back of my neck, which by now was stiff and sore. That same woman helped me to the ladies room and she and my husbad stood guard as I violetly vomited, over and over. I never even thought of an aneurysm. I just knew the light was making me sick and I had to go where it was dark. Another employee of the supermarket got the moterized shopping cart and helped me to my truck. I vomited several times on the way home. My husband, God love him, tried twice to take me to 2 different emergency rooms, but I just wanted to go home.

In retrospect, I was under a great deal of pressure that week (including fighting with and winning an appeal vs. the IRS), and I had a toothache so I was taking asprin. After the aneurysm, my tooth was fine, so perhaps there was some pressure on the molar root, who knows!

:o I know you are scared & frustrated! I had a rupture, I had no warning, I was trying to put up a pool for days & I was a firefighter so we ran a lot of calls. I was hanging a wet towel up on a nail to hang plants on and uplled something in my neck. I thought I blew a disc out until the next morning. I never had any sypmptoms before that. Maybe headaches that I passed off as migraines?? After the rupture I had a Severe headache, nausia, stiff & sore neck, blurred vision, coordination problems... I went to the ER 3 times & saw 3doctors before I got a diagnosis, so I am lucky to still be here!! Mine is on the left side next to my optical artery. We will be here to get you through this!! Take care! Tricia

Glad you are ok now! What an ordeal! That's interesting about your tooth. I tried for months to get my dentist to pull my tooth on the right side, (my annie was on the left), because the side of my face on the right and the tooth were just killing me! The dentist kept saying there was nothing wrong with my tooth. Once I had the annie clipped the tooth pain/face pain went away.
I never thought it could be an aneurysm, maybe this is a head's up for dentists!!??
