Hi all, I've just found this website.

I was diagnosed with APS a few years ago after a severe bout of vomiting and dizziness hospitalised me. After much mucking about with various doctors I am now finally settled and managing my treatment. I'm now on Prednisolone, Amlodopine and Aspirin.

I've been very surprised at the vagueness of the iminologists at my local hospital, they seemed to have little or no knowledge of this condition when it was first diagnosed and had to lookup most of what they conveyed to me.

For some time now I have noticed that if I get a cold or some other sort of infection I get the symptoms of the infection but I also get wierd side effects. Within a matter of a day or so of getting the cold I will start to get sudden 'attack' for want of a better word, these come on quite quickly and I get sick/slightly dizzy, very weak, and also very hot(cold sweat). This will last for a minute or so, and I can have as many as 10 a day if I'm really ill. I've been told that I can adjust my medication to compensate when I get a cold, and this does seem to help keep these 'attacks' at bay. However, none of my doctors can give me a straight answer as to what they are, I thought they might be TIA's but I'm not sure. Has anyone else had anything like this?, or know what it is?.

Hello and welcome to the site. If you have researched APS you will have learnt that the disorder has only been around for 19 years which is why the Docs know little about it. I guess because it is a 'rare' disorder little research has been done on it. I was diagnosed 3 years ago and some of the symptoms you described I can relate to. The slightly dizzy, very weak almost to the point of feeling faint I sometimes have. I need to lie down at that point. At times I notice to my complexion is quite pasty with little colour in my face...like its been drained away. I have never asked about it and if I have asked my GP about anything to do with APS he says you probably know more about it than I do. It is me who has done the research and with that comment in mind, I felt I needed to.
