Hi,
First time posting here. I have pain on my right foot on lateal outer ankle for last 8 months. I got EMG done and it suggests that there is some problem with Sural nerve. I have no shooting pain / numbemss / or pin and neddles pain, I have electric shock feeling only once in all these months. I have more pain while walking. Also I got MRI done on my ankle it suggests that no scar tissue or any other problem with with tendon peroneal. I have more like dull pain which aggrevates when I walk. Can this still be a nerve pain ? and what's the treatment options I have?

I have the EXACT same issue. I have not yet been to the Dr.'s. I think i injured mine during a work out on the elliptical machine. It hurts to walk and almost feels like a bruise in that area. I'm not too sure what to do abt it.

Sural nerve pain in my left ankle was one of the first symptoms of my peripheral neuropathy. I was doing a lot of recreational cycling at the time and I thought the pain was an achilles tendon injury. I iced my achilles and the result was an almost dead sural nerve and lateral numbness in my foot. Nerve conduction studies showed very low amplitude but approx normal velocity in that nerve. After I started methyl-B12 the sural nerve recovered very slowly (over about 1 - 2 years) and is almost normal now. I now take 5000 micrograms of B12 per day and other supplements like fish oil, acetyl-L carnitine and CoQ10.
