I just got the results of my mamography. After having no problems for 5 years (biopsy on left side in 2002) - I now have a nodule on the right side. Or, so they think.

I have a repeat film on Monday and a possible sonogram.

The last time this happened I had lost a little weight and this is the same thing. I lost about 6 lbs. So, there's less fat there, I suspect. Also, I have a Mirena IUC to help with uterine fibroid problems. I've had the IUD for over 3 years. There's been an ovarian cyst (a side effect of the IUD, possibly). I can't remember if it can cause breast cycts.

So, the term nodule was not used in the past. Does that mean anything different? or is it just another word for an area that looks different.

Hi there. I saw this last night and meant to come back and reply but then lost my train of thought of where I saw it. Mine was at a lower spot I think and I associated mine with lungs is why I had a hard time finding your post again. I wanted to reply because I know how scared I was when I was told I had a nodule myself. It sent me spinning in part because of my family's history but just the unknown will do that to most of us. I will say that I hope it is just being cautious in your case. Mine was discovered while looking at something else, then that had to be tracked down and made sure of also. But I will be prayerful that it is for the same reason, to rule it out. I wish someone knowledgable had answered you first but I was hoping just knowing that someone had had the same scare over that word nodule and it turned out all right might make you feel a bit better also.

Good luck on Monday, and if you have the sonogram you can see what's there-then ask the person just what a nodule is,surely they can give out that much info!

I had a rather large lump removed years ago,no cancer. I understand your fear/dread. Try your best to relax & think positive!

I'd also ask the doc about the IUD possible connection?

Wishing you good luck! Buttons

Wanted to post the good news. No problems. It took 3 more films, but they say no real change and I think I have a 6 month follow up.

Thanks for the support.

I'll take that as very good news and nothing wrong with them being cautious and checking again later. May they all turn out this way for you.
