>>>>>>>Greetings<<<<<<<
I hope this finds you well.It certainly is good to be back.
I have since my last visit been put on a new med. It's called efexor on the label, vandral retard on the box and has the given name venlafaxine.
Anyone know anything more than i do about them ?
I know they are a complex ssri that are used as an anti-psychotic.My episodes were called that before i was considered bipolar.
A lot of meds have had the reverse or some previously unreported side effect on me.
This could be due to the frontal lobe damage i sustained as a teen motorcyclist.
So any reply would be good, either on this thread or as a personel message.
Thanks a lot and i'll be seeing you.
Zoso

Here is a link to the package insert for this medication. It works on both a selective serotonin- and norepinephrine-reuptake inhibitor. In other words, it works to help you keep as much serotonin and norepinephrine circulating in your system as possible.

I have been on Effexor for over a year - it has helped me a good deal for the most part, I still have my days when I don't think anything would help. I'm on it for depression from dealing with severe, chronic pain. One thing I will warn you about, DO NOT COME OFF OF THIS MEDICATION WITHOUT THE HELP OF YOUR DOCTOR. I had to come off it for a myelogram, and didn't listen to the doctor, but I sure will next time.

Good luck to you. I hope it helps you feel soooo much better. Take care, my friend,
Kathy
