Hey, everybody. :)

A great deal of spam is being sent to some of the boards, and as members, you have the right to report such posts. You can do so by clicking on the triangle to the right of the post number in the thread. Then put the information in the window that will come up. It is a confidential process, and the members and staff here on BT appreciate your help.

Thank you!

LIZARD :)

Yes, this little triangle is the Moderator buzzer....http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/images/buttons/report.gif (http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/images/buttons/report.gif)

Click on this when you find a post that you believe is in need of moderator attention. It will open a message box for you to write a detailed reason for why you are reporting the post. Once reported, it sends an email to all the moderators of that forum and creates a discussion thread in one of the moderator's forums.

The identity of the user reporting the post is only known to the moderators, and will be kept confidential. Please help the moderators by reporting any inappropriate posts promptly. By doing so, everyone can be a functional part of the moderating team.

Thanks for you help...:D

Welp..

I pushed that little red triangle button thingy, quite a long while ago. Still nothing. There is an inapporpriate post on the RSD forum that has been there for over 24 hours now. Someone soliciting our forum for research purposes. That still is against the TOS, right?

I don't understand why nothing has been done yet? Do the mods check things at all over the weekends? Do they check email or whatever the little red triangle button thing sends the report to on the weekends? For so many mods to be listed as moderating a forum, it seems to me that it should be easier to get at least one's attention? I wouldn't mind the research if I knew for sure that it was "OK" for it to be going on here.

Or...maybe I am totally wrong? Maybe it is now Ok for folks to do research here at these forums? COuld someone please let me/us know if that is the case? Just so that I don't continue to make a fool out of myself when I tell someone that they shouldn't be doing that, because it is breaking the rules and what not.

Thanks.

Joselita

It's just coincidence that none of the moderators checked their email (I noticed moderator #9 took care of the post) over the first part of the weekend.

I've noticed lots of spammers lately. Thankfully the moderators are getting rid of it really fast generally. In fact sometimes it's gone almost instantaneously which is wonderful considering the content of some of the spam.

I report spam if I see it, but some I leave if it's been there a while, because I figure someone else would have reported it. I'm just wondering if it's annoying to get 10 reports for one thread or is ok to just report it when we see it still there? I mean, we don't really know if someone has reported it already, or not.

I take it also that the forums are still enabling users to register without email confirmation? Personally I feel that is something that needs to be addressed asap.

Lara,

It is not 'annoying to get 10 reports for one thread'.

It is better than getting zero reports on 'site X' which everybody thinks someone else has reported.

The mods cannot be online 24/7/365.

But BT IS on 24/7/365.

So any help to keep us spam free is worth it.

Mod #3.

Is there any way to report this filth without actually opening the posts? Some of it is so gross! :o

Thanks!

LIZARD :)
