I caught a nasty cold a couple of weeks ago that just laid me out. I'm finally over the sinus infection and cold virus but my body still hurts so much I am having a hard time dealing with it.

I'm still very fatigued and my SKIN hurts!! I have areas on my hands, arms, legs and torso that burn and itch almost constantly. I haven't been able to figure out anything to help with this particular manifestation of Fibromyalgia.

My muscles burn and ache whenever I do anything physical and I pay dearly for any activity even if it is just doing housework.

When you get sick and the fibro flares along with the illness, how long does it take for the flare to subside? I know it is probably unique to each person, but a little feedback so I can compare would be helpful.

I hope this eases soon.

Alli, when I'm in a flare, it usually is some kind of sprain or strain that is localized, but not always. If I'm sick, I might get a localized ache or pain. Then, the generalized, dissemination, (is that the right word?) starts and I ache all over. t I've come to recognize this as the gradual fading of the flare. I hope that it is the same for you.

Hang in there. At this point, I try to alleviate some of the pain with regular use of aspirin or ibuprofen. Aspirin works better for me and I always take it with a full glass of water and food. I've never had a stomach upset from it.

Warmth, from any source also helps. Wool socks, silk underwear, an electric blanket to get the bed warm, all seem to help. Just don't overdo when you begin to feel like you might be able to tackle something besides the bare minimum. Cheerio.
