Hello.
Crikey what a day this has been. I have really earnt the position of Grant's pro bono personal secretary :) I might have to charge a fee for my services if this keeps up!
After not hearing from the gastro doc's registrar I phoned the secretary again.
She was very apologetic saying that she was supposed to phone to let me know that the scope would be done either Thursday (tomorrow) or Friday, when David does the scopes.
I had earlier spoken to the other secretary. The secretary I just spoke to said that the other secretary had possibly just had a heart attack and had been rushed to the hospital (just around the corner). It was her mum, so I can appreciate her stress. Whew!
I then phoned the hospital and got onto the endoscopy suite. David was still scoping and not available, but the person I spoke to said she would ring back.
About half an hour later, Bettina from the endoscopy suite rang. She knows Grant quite well. She apologised also and said that Grant is now booked in for a scope on Friday at about midday.
Grant cannot possibly travel by wheelchair in the Grantmobile to hospital because he would find the hour and a bit long trip too upsetting. I have phoned the family doc, who will arrange for a non-emergency ambulance to pick Grant up. This is not quite a simple as it sounds as these ambulances sometimes do multiple pickups and are not that reliable regarding pick up time. I stressed that Grant has to be picked up at 9.30 am, which gives us two hours to get to hospital. I am not even sure if I will be able to travel in the ambulance :(
Earlier on today I phoned Barb, who is Grant's olden days school sick bay person. She knows Grant backwards and inside out having known him before we even did! She shared that one family member had Dialantin and had become extremely distressed, so the Dialantin isn't yet ruled out, but I am not sure if Dialantin can cause iron levels to go low. What do you reckon? Barb also mentioned the possibility of pernicious (SP) anemia (SP). What do you reckon on that one?
On Friday, Alison will be able to come to the hospital for the day as she can get away from school.. The school is wonderful like that = 10/10 for compassion and understanding.
Once in hospital we have no intention of coming home until the problem is resolved. I will take my movie camera with me and won't be standing any nonsense.
We will for now keep Grant on the Dialantin. If it turns out that the Dialantin has caused all the distress and anxiety, I hope that the filmed proof will once and for all confirm that Grant simply cannot be on prolonged day to day AEDS. In fairness to the Dialantin though, it might not be the Dialantin at all. We will have to see what eventuates.
MOST CONCERNING
What really is most concerning is the speed in which this distress came about. Grant became distressed, the day after he came out of hospital. It is true that he had either another or continuation of the chest infection, but nevertheless the onset of the stress was very quick indeed.
I am off to get some dinner for us and after the grub, I will be off to the pokies for relaxation.
With special love to your special kiddies of course.
Paul, Grant's personal secretary, Alison caring for Grant, and Grant hoping the scope will reveal and show what the problems are so a resolution can be sought.
