Does anyone know if I can freeze pasteurized egg whites? I bought a small carton of All Egg Whites at Trader Joe's. I want to make omelets w 1 whole egg and the equivalent of 2 egg whites.

The carton says to discard 7 days after opening. I'd rather freeze some on day 1 as I can't use them that fast.

Whadayathink?

Regards,
ANN

Hi Ann

I'd love to know the answer to that qqqquestion as well. I wonder if there is still such a place that is calledsomething econimist ?? duh sorry. There used to be a place that one of my friends went to work at (since deceased) and I imagine they would know. If I find out I'll post it here but since I am having a bit of trouble getting my mind to work, maybe look in phone book and see if there is a place like that in your area that could answer this.

It is the group of people that put on safty booth, etc. at your local fairgrounds etc.

Thank you, joy. We may share the same brain!

Re: these particular pasteurized "All Egg Whites," I found the name of the company on the carton. I called and they said that they can be frozen but it diminishes the quality (becomes too watery). I'm going to try it once rather than waste them.

Thanks again,
ANN (stANNding, not screaming) :)

Well good thinking there. I don't care if the quality is diminished some. That way I have something to blame failed cooking on, lol. I push things to far back and overlook them numerous times. Hopefully this will save me just a tad of money. I'm pretty sure my dog is going to get to eat this box tho', I will scramble it for him, lol. The vet informed me that the canned whipped creme just wasn't good for his system. Drat, he was enjoying it so much too!
Many thanks for checking it out.

I've tried freezing it. Because I had the same dilemma. And it didn't made any difference. I was still able to use them after 7 days. Freezing them is effective.
