I hope you guys have some insights for me. Sometimes after seizures my legs become very weak and I have to sit until they regain their strength. The other day my legs were tingling and feeling rather weak but I hadn't noticed any seizure activity to explain that. I ignored them and went on with my day like normal. The following day my legs were so sore they really affect how I walk, when I bend etc. They really hurt, and usually my legs are strong as I ride my bike everywhere. Has anyone ever had seizures that are just tingling and weakness? My seizures start near my R occipital/parietal lobe. I'm curious as to what happened as I'm still limping around. Any ideas?

Howdy Mercy!
My idea is that this is something that you need to discuss with
your doctor.

Good to hear you ride your bike everywhere. So do I (unless I have to move a frig or something). In your message, you said your legs felt tired. You ignored this and went riding anyway. The next day, they were tired.
I didn't see your age. If older, unfortunately one's body does start to lose some strength. If I ride like I am 20 years old, then usually pay for it the next day.
Even if you are strong, a day off once in awhile usually helps. Also if you ride differently one day (headwind, hills, different route) then the stress on your body is slightly different and may cause the weakness you mentioned.
It's a very good idea to listen to signals the body sends. If I overdue things, I am achy (and often cranky too as my wife will tell you). Also I sometimes get leg twitches. I do hot showers and stretch. This really helps.
Exercise is the best med I've found. No doc has ever recommended it (and some could clearly use it themselves). One fancy neuro couldn't believe I walked the hills of San Francisco to get to his office. He told me anyone w/ E shouldn't exercise. I know of at least E'er that's finished the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon (1.2 mi swim, 121 mi bike and 26 mi run). I also know several others who've done shorter distance races as well one endurance cyclist (100 mi rides regularly).
Good luck w/ your riding. I hope it helps

Dave - I see the doctor in 2 weeks and I am going to ask him. I'd just like to know what I should learn from this.
West coast - I guess it's possible that age might be a factor, I'm in my 40's. I would expect muscle problems from age to come on a little more gradually though. To start one day with tingling, weak legs - sort of out of nowhere ,and the next day to be hobbling around, all w/o changing my daily routine seems odd to me.
Is S.F. a bike friendly town? Some of the drivers around here would just as soon kill me as slow down when they go by me. Then on really snowy days they give me a lot more room and are in general a lot more courteous.

I would definately not consider SF to be a "bike friendly" city...
But I walked the hills for years, running for busses, getting my wife up to the ER at UCSF up there just below Twin Peaks when she was having seizure after seizure.....
Seizures never stopped me from exercising. The meds made me a bit more lazy, but I never had ill effects from working up a sweat.
Exaustion is quite another thing. Make sure to have water, and don't let your blood sugar level get too low. These are a few things that can trigger seizures, and can be precipitated by exercising without some forethought.
Hey wc, wasn't that a Unicycle/stilt race you were in???

Hi Mercy. My suggestion would be to post this question on the MS forum. There are many, and I mean many, reasons for tingling and weakness but having had E since childhood, sz's haven't ever been the reason. I do have MS and E so it's possible to have both. But like I said, there are so many different causes for these symptoms that your neuro will run a battery of tests to rule out most/all of them. The people on the MS forum are pretty well versed in the MS and MS mimicker areas.

This is definitely something your doc needs to know about and check out. Have you noticed and change in vision or speech? Any tingling in arms, hands? First thing I thought of was stroke. Those symptoms are on one side, but it depends on where the clot is. Def get doc to check this out and not just say, well sounds like your usual, unless you are sure it is your usual? Tattoo
