Reading tgrimes article on epigenetics there was another saying "Gene Chip for Personalized Meds" "Psychiatrists can now predict an individual patient's response to a drug".
Years ago this news would excited me for my autistic son. finally! i will get an answer why he didn't improve on meds but got worse. his doctor had implied that he had a mutation on his liver P450 enzymes that metabolize man-made drugs. but now i think i know different, "autism" is not a disease, more specific his "autism" and, in general, "autism" is a condition in which the immune system and the nervous system haven't matured, it's not just "in the head", is not 'mental' and won't get better on stimulants and/or tranquilizers which are basically neurotoxic. what i have observed these chemicals prevent the normal development, delayed as it is, of these children, they get "stuck" frozen on some activities and spins their wheels forever...not mention all the horrible adverse effects.
