So, are ye ordained yet? I saw a minister woman on larry king the other night and she was so cool... I am not religious but listening to her made me think if I was, I would want to go to one of her sermons.

OMG I was just posting a (typical for me) huge post on the loooong thread.
And I miss you guys too, and think about you all ALL the time, depending on the situation. I bet not an hour goes by, I don't think of you (well your kids especially) depending on what's going on and what I'm doing or where I am.
And I'm not ordained yet, hee hee. I'd love to be, but probably should really get the 'f' word out of my system first. I just don't think as a person, I'm 'there' yet, or like spiritually developed enough. I want to LIVE being ordained, not just be ordained. Know what I mean? I'm not sure if I can do that, there are too many goofy silly gross things that are too darn fun.
So who did you listen to on Larry King? Was it the white lady with the short brown hair with kind of a country type accent but not too much?

I just read your post things are sure looking up for you, and it sounds like a good carma-like cloud has taken over your whole household!
Yes she is white, but she has blond hair... but the interesting thing there were so many black followers in her really huge congregation, from the video clips they showed. A huge percentage looked black, I don't know if that has something to do with style or what, but it was really noticeable.
I just was struck that I didn't immediatley flip off the channel when I saw evangelist, I was actually sort of mesmerised.

Hmmm, maybe she died her hair. Too bad I don't remember her name...like I'm sure there's more than one blond and one brown haired white lady preacher in the world.
The lady I liked was mesmorizing too (at first) and I think being raised Catholic and being a woman I tend to enjoy seeing a WOMAN on the pulpit.
I found myself listening to her several times, until I noticed certain hypocracies - why does that seem inevitable when ever I find a preacher I like. And I remember a largely black audience.
I'm still a die hard MLK fan. Wow I really am enjoying the next book I'm reading, but it's a real mind blower for me. Just not the type of thing I'm familiar with at all...see because I want to make a change instead of continually complaining about how bad things are for asd's at schools, I figured who better to try and get ideas from, than MLK. Well, anyhow here's the book I'm reading, I do get it, I just can't imagine trying to do what it says and I'm only on Chapter 1. Extremely good ideas though, I don't think I'll make any changes that count for anyone, unless I try and learn from his example. Ahhh, example, remember the days when we had good examples? Not that there'll ever be another like him, or the Croc Hunter, or Ghandi, or Mandella, or any folks like that. OH here's the book I'm trying to learn from after having read Strength to Love (hoping it would help with the crippling negative feelings aka hate I feel too often, about Vincent's last year at school). I mean, how can I help my kids not feel hate if I feel it, right? OH so the book I'm reading now: Martin Luther King, Jr. on Leadership written by Donald T. Phillips though, not MLK.
I tried Dale Carnegy (or some name like that) a long while ago, omg, waaaaay the heck over my head. It was like reading a Donald Trump book when you're still struggling with the directions for Monopoly.
OH hey here's a good place to see what the book is about. Remember, with asd kids and our children, I see their basic human civil rights are violated on an ongoing basis. Often, when I see the word 'black' I think 'autistic child'. See what I'm saying? I'm not hoping for anything different for our kids in schools, than they are already entitled to. And I have no idea how to ever start to do that. So, in this site it gives the outline for the 5 strategies MLK used for success. I could never be an MLK, however, his plans were solid and his heart was righteous. http://www.ofspirit.com/tw-martinlutherkingjronleadership.htm

There's still examples, just a change in the frequency of listeners.
Maybe you struggle with that book because of the other author... MLK used to quote philosophers and contemporaries all the time, even to the point of plagerism, so maybe look into that.. If his words speak to you on that level, then whoever he really admired you will too. Look up the people he quoted and used in his speeches and see if you can use some of that philosophy.
I tried Dale Carnegy (or some name like that) a long while ago, omg, waaaaay the heck over my head. It was like reading a Donald Trump book when you're still struggling with the directions for Monopoly.
Oh, them's fightin words! omparing Carnegie to Trump, I mean. Well if you had a hard time following 'How to win Friends and influence people' i find that surprising, its like a must read for everyone, and pretty much an easy read, no interpretation required. It's probably one of the best books around for aspies (who desire to change) their social skills. Is that the one you had trouble with?
Trump's books have nothing to do with philosophy, leadership, development, or anything... his books read more like one big advertisement. Despite that I still like the donald.
I just got that 'thank you power' book a couple of weeks ago I don't know if you heard of it but it's great... on Thanksgiving night I started writing down things I am thankful for, and keeping that totally nonmaterialistic, it is doing me a great deal of good, and when I get bummed out i look at what I wrote a couple of days before, it is just a really positive influence.

I saw the first minute of the clip, that's not the lady. She has real short hair, older. So different preacher lady.
I know MLK quotes others, funny thing is my second hero is Ghandi, and that was his hero so that I didn't know until about a year ago. I'm sure he probably used lots of what he said, fine with me - I mean he's not like Muhammad Ali saying "I am the greatest, the black superman" and plagerizing, so it's ok, ya know what I mean?
I don't know which Dale Carnegy book I couldn't read, I remember one of the first rules of thumb of his was to be a good listener, and I thought "Uh oh I'm screwed". I still have the book somewhere so can find the title. I don't think it was the think about winning friends and influencing people, I felt like it might give me some ability to do 'bad' and I wouldn't be able to resist, or, more likely any attempts and manipulation for my advantage would be transparent and I'd make an arse out of myself (the bad kind of arse, not the 'fun' kind I don't mind making of myself). However, after you said what you did, I have no idea why but you have me blazing with curiosity about that book now.
OK, the Trump comparison thing, had nothing to do with comparing him to Dale Carnegy, it's just getting too late to explain my bad analogy so just trust me here.
Kristen, I know the verbosity thing is down, not sure what's up with that?? I'm finally FINALLY trying to get my house, with 7 years of started and unfinished projects, done. I just finished 1/2 the concrete slab basement I tore the carpeting off of, and left. The other half which will be carpeted instead of vinyled, is coming this weekend. I've really had it, I'm going to finish this dang house. Our basement is relatively unusable, we have a split level, so that's 1/2 the house so that's ridiculous. Also, it's a duplex, so it's already 1/2 a house, anyhow, I'm motivated. And also, I'm studying RDI lots.
