I have been using Poise Extra pads for a long time. When I went to the store to buy some the other day, they had been replaced by a "new and improved" pad which is called "moderate" protection instead of extra. The new pads bunch up and are not soft. I am constantly having to readjust the pad and when you try to "unbunch" it, it tears apart. They are harder than the old pads and there is no forgetting you have to wear the darn things because you feel the pad constantly. Is anyone else finding that the new pads are hardly an improvement? Can anyone recommend another brand to try?

Sounds frustrating! I am able to get away with pantiliners for my occassional mild bladder incontinence. I am newly dealing with mild bowel incontinence and have no idea what products work for that!

Hope you get a lead on a good product.

When I have some sort of a soggy potty problem going on, I just use the same pads that I use for the "girl stuff".

About 3 or 4 months ago they discontinued the pads that I preferred the most (comfortable, barely knew they were there) and now I'm using what used to be my second choice.

I hate it when the companies that make things like pads and tampons decide to come out with something "new & improved".

It's more like "new and doesnt work as well as the old product, and we're not going back to the old product...so suffer!"

Day to day I get by without anything as I only go places with bathrooms, but I need something when going on longer drive or a boatride with no toilet or similar and have found absolutely nothing useful, I was looking for something like an adult diaper. No such luck, one can only had a small leak with the pads currently on the market.

I usually don't post here because I don't have MS but have a Neuromuscular disorder that basically mimics MS.

I started wearing pullups, At first I didn't want to wear them but they are comfortable and help with the urinary and bowel incontinence I sometimes suffer from.

I have yet to find a good pad. I also can not beleive how expensive they are:eek: .

I sent an e-mail to Kimberly-Clark to let them know I did not like the change in these pads. Their response? I was thanked for my comments and they are sending me coupons to buy more of this product I don't like. I wonder if my comments were even read! Wonder if they had someone who has to wear these things 24/7 test them before they changed the make-up of the pads.

I got the same response when I emailed Proctor & Gamble about their change in Tampax tampons a few months ago. They totally screwed up their tampons to the point where they are totally unusable (and I think they contribute to yeast infections now) and there are a few bazillion women on the internet that are so totally ticked off about it. (never mess with a girl's tampons!)

I dont want coupons, I want them to put the tampons back to the way they were so that I can be what passes for comfortable while wearing them, instead of the torture devices they have now.

I also found the 'improved' to be less effective. I started with the 'extra' a few years ago, then had to move up every so often. When I got to the largest, that's when they decided to improve- it seems cheaper and easily leaks. Poise does make a panty, but I find it too hard to change, unless you're wearing a skirt. I wear an AFO, so it is a major endeavor to change underwear when wearing pants, especially when I'm not at home.

I tell my urologist that my bladder runs my life. With urgency, frequency, leakage, overflow, retention, constant utis. I catheterize, take oxybutynin ER, use protection, and I still have constant issues.

a good friend of mine suggested the Tena/ Serenitydiapers---and they seem to be the best for me to rely on when at risk...

I use the pads made by TENA...they are perfect and are made in 6 or 7 strengths from light to extra heavy. I've used them for many, many years.

I wondered if the product you use also has a series of different strength pads and you bought moderate when there is also an extra available????
Good luck.

There are many incontinence products available that will make your social outings more than bathroom hunting events.

I have tried the Tena pad but didn't like them. I do like the Poise but am not as happy with the new and improved product either...

I bought some recently that even had 'wings'...didn't care much for that.

Good luck finding something that works AND is comfortable.

Each of the TENA pads fits differently. Andthe center water absorbing thing really works well when I have a problem.

My urologist said that my particular problem is that the MS makes the walls of my bladder rigd. I use oxybutrin which makes the walls flaccid.(oxybutrin=generic form of detrol which does not work for me). I use 5mg and am fine for 8 hours. Sometimes I use 10mg. I only use med when I am going out. Pads and pills and I never have to run for or even look for a bathroom.

I have been using mini pads for this problem, but there are days I need more. Problem is I don't know when it is going to be bad- it's not nec. based on the length of time I'm out. It does get expensive to use heavy gear when I don't need it.:(

I haven't tried Teva but just found you can get a free sample of Teva/serentiy at this site:
