Hi Everyone, Tonight I watched NBC news. The showed an ad for Michael J. Fox campaining for a Democratic Candidate. Irregardless of your political party, something that affects everyone with a Neurological Disease. Rush Limbaugh claimed Michael J. Fox was acting in the ad (Mr. Fox has Parkinson's, which is uncontrollable) and then Limbaugh mimiced the movement disorders. Yes, we do live in a country where freedom of speech is a right. However, to me, Limbaugh's comments and actions were discriminatory in nature. Would he be allowed to do his reactions if it was based upon a person's race or sex? Limbaugh's show is owned by Premeire Radio Networks, which is owned by Clear Channel Communications. Clear Channel Communication has stock and the people in charge of the stock holdings are Randall T. Mays, Mark P. Mays, and L. Lowry Mays. Please send the message that Limbaugh's actions and accusations are wrong. I requested a list of the advertisers on Limbaugh's show: I will boycott them. It is an election year-let's make a difference! Thank you.

What Limbaugh was complaining about is that Michael J. Fox appears on Boston Legal and does not appear to have as many symptoms of Parkinson's as he does in the Democratic ad. It appears that he made the ad when his symptoms were at their worst in order to for the ad to be more dramatic and to make his pitch for the democratic candidate and embryonic stem cell research. BTW, Republicans are not against stem cell research. They are only against embryonic stem cell research.

Hi- I did not mean to imply Republicans are against stem cell research, so please forgive me. As for the show Boston Public and Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's Symptoms-I have never watched the show. I have seen Michael J. Fox on other shows and interviews, and the symptoms are more noticeable at some times rather than others. Personally, I know the medication game is trial and error and we never know when someone could have been trying different medications. This is not to say Michael J. Fox has switched medications-just an observance. What medical training has Rush Limbaugh had? I have had trial and error, and that's enough for me!

Let me say that this suggestion to boycott Rush Limbaugh (his show) is not about politics; it is about allowing a prominent personality like Limbaugh (or anybody for that matter) to make fun of PD symptoms and this should NOT be tolerated. Michael J. Fox has done more to bring our disease into focus and doesn't deserve this, no matter what side of the political fence he falls on.

If we don't hang Limbaugh out to dry, we as PD patients should be chalked up as apathetic. I CARE - it's about ME and over a million other sufferers with PD. It's about ANYONE belittling a handicapped person!

Limbaugh's comments also reinforce the fact that we as the leaders of the Parkinson's community have a long way to go in educating the public about this disease. Putting politics aside, let's use this as a teachable moment.

Whether MJF was medicated or unmedicated is irrelevent, and to suggest he is a fake is so inflamatory that Rush should go up in flames (or better yet down in flames) for even suggesting it.

I am seething. Whether or not you "believe" in stem cell research is also irrelevant. This is the face of PD.

OK If you want to put the fire to Rush Limbaugh's feet (and this is NOT any political move I am talking about) here's more info:

Kraig Kitchen, President
Premiere Radio Networks (division of Clear Channel)
Phone: (800) 533-8686

This is the boss of the radio program who broadcasts Limbaugh. We all need to take a few minutes to call and complain about Limbaugh's comment that Fox was "faking" it for the commercial - IT IS IRRELEVANT AS TO HIS SUPPORT FOR ANY PARTY. This is about how someone with a disease like PD (and obviously an uneducated person) can be belittled onationally concerning PD symptoms. If we let this one go by, next we'll be hearing about people in wheelchairs belittled, or those with Down's being made sport of.

This is intolerable! Call now! (and does anyone have the connection to contact Limbaugh directly?)

Thanks everyone!

Peggy

Hello Folks, I'm from the epilepsy room, I have had epilepsy for 35 yrs. I don't know anything about Parkinsons. But I more than image it is terrible & has brought most of you to tears. Do you take daily meds to help avoid symtoms? Maybe MJF went a day or 2 without meds before doing commercial, so that everyone could more see what Parkinsons looks like. In doing this he didn't have to explain it. He showed what some of you 'get' to go through each day.

Micheal Fox said himself a few years ago he was not taking medications to control his tremors. many people that saw his political ads thought the same as Limbaugh but since they dont have a public forum they are not heard. If Micheal Fox did drop his meds to gain sympathy than he is the one who should be criticized. If I dont take my pain meds then I lay in bed. I guess I could skip my meds and make an ad against the DEA if I wanted the DEA to stop harrassing people in pan by keeping a tight fist around doctors that prescribe.

 :D :p zzzzzzzzzzonce again Rush has stirred the pot .I admire a man with asbestos undies.

Go go a support group one time and see how many acts are taking place at tne same time. I am sure you will need a good director and a few people to move things around in this wonderful production. it would be a true fake acting job if we could all imitate the movements of MF.
I left theu zzzzzzzzbove as that is a normal part of my typing.you woul be wouldd much further ahead to study the stem
cell program, and leave the politics out of it. That is an old

battle and more senators and house reps. have changed their minds than they have changed those abestos undies, .trying to keep upwith the politians. playing Parkinsons disease is a sure lost hand in the game as they
are all afraid of being on the loosers side of policits.

Join our side and do some good for a change....

looser.Politionsaolicianspolitions flunky is a waste of a good vote , now i will i take a shaky nap.

A Washington University Neurologist response to Limbaugh's comment was that Michael J Fox's tremors were due to his medication. That the tremors he displayed were a very typical side effect of his medication, and called it dystonia(?). Limbaugh's comment said that Fox probably was off of his meds, and faking it.

I am fuming at this. The radio personality that played this said that Limbaugh is the only person he knows who can take that much Oxycotin. Low blow, hope it hurt.

what kind of person would ever stoop so low as to claim anyone with ANY movement disorder is FAKING IT??

At one time I had myoclonic jerks that scared the doctors! I was told "possible Parkinson's". These were full body jerks, I looked like a jumping jack! Is it any wonder I became reclusive?

Where is the compassion? I'd ask anyone defending Limbaugh to search their soul.....someday it may be YOU or someone you love that suffers from this dreadful disease!

And bless all of you who are doing whatever you possibly can to encourage more research!

Regardless of your politics, this was just plain nasty! Shame on Limbaugh!

Take care,Buttons

Hi Everyone- For those who may be interested in contacting Rush Limbaugh's corporate: Clear Channel Entertainment owns Premiere Radio who is connected to Rush Limbaugh's show. If you call either business to speak with someone, there is no one you can be directed to speak with. Perhaps this is typical protocol for business. The number you can call, irregagdless of whether you want to praise of disagree with the comments, is: 1-818-377-5300.

The person that accused Fox of exaggerating or acting out his Parkinson symptoms, is the same person that publically bashed anybody and everybody that took or received drugs illegally; all the while taking enough Oxy to kill a horse. It should have been ordered by the judge that Rush's middle name be changed to Hypocritical. I have a few other opinions that this system won't let me write.

Apparently Rush lives by a different set of rules and laws that he loudly and obnoxiously dictates the rest of us live by.

Katie Couric interviewed Mike Fox on CBS News tonight.
It WAS dyskinesias we saw - not off meds or acting.
Now - go tell the world what a jerk Rush Limbaugh is

Unfortunately, any publicity is good publicity for some one like Rush.

I don't think that his comments have been a total loss. A lot more viewers have seen the MJF video than would have with out the comment by Rush and more light has been shed on the fight we are all in together.

I agree with Robert. Limbaugh's ridiculous statements has had the entire country talking about Parkinson's, and making everyone aware of our plight.
And yay to M.J.Fox for using his celebrity to call attention to the problems we face as people living with this insidious disease.

Ultimately, it's about getting to a cure, and whatever it takes to get there, even if a goon like Limbaugh mouths off...why, I just have to say THANKS!

I am appalled at the ignorance of Rush Limbaugh. It took me almost two hours today to get my thoughts all in an email, but it was sent. Not only the totally ignorant things that he said about Michael J. Fox, stating that "he was exaggerating the effects of his disease", while moving his head and body all around in a mocking manner. He also said "it is purely an act." I am disgusted and just plain mad at such stupidity! My dad had Parkinson's Disease for 23 years. My dad passed away in June 2002. I will never forget how he lived his life with such determination. What a wonderful role model he was to me, and faced all his challenges with such strength. I prayed for a cure for my dad, and while that cure did not come for my dad, I pray that a cure will come. Michael J. Fox has shown grace in the way that he carries himself, and fights for this cause that he, himself is living with everyday. I hope that something positive will come out of all of this, and people will learn more about Parkinson's Disease.

Rush Limbaugh has to start using his brain instead of going on instant tirades against the liberals. He accuses Mr. Fox of using his illness to garner votes for the Democrats when he was at a poor moment as far as his symptoms being controlled. Although I am a conservative and do not believe for religious reasons that stem cell should be used to benefit me, I saw nothing in the ad but a man with a severe chronic illness, going to no extremes to cover his symptoms, begging for a better chance at being a better father, actor, husband, etc. He was showing the real face of Parkinson's. Rush Limbaugh's tirade against the democrats was uncalled for; stem cell research should not be a political, but a medical, issue.

In Minnesota, Patty Wetterling, a Democrat who changed government policies for finding kidnapped children, is being dragged through the mud by the Republican attack ads calling her a liar, a spender, and other distasteful attacks. I have no desire to vote at all. I have never seen a more dreadful campaign year with so many attack ads on both (but mostly on the Republican) sides. How can a person choose either side when both sides use fear tactics?

As far as I could tell Mr. Fox was only exercising his American Right to speak out on an issue. I believe I have found someone working in a career that is more worthless that car chasing lawyers. Politicians!!!

"I have no desire to vote at all"

PLEASE don't fall for this - they would like for voters not to g et out and use their well-earned right! This entire election will be basically won by those who do (or don't vote)! LLet your voice be counted.

Voting does make a difference. It is too bad that there is so much mud slinging in the ads. I wish tv ads would be banned. I try not to pay attention to them. You need to look at where the candidates stand on the issues- get your information from a newspaper or from the League of Women Voters. Although all the candidates are bad in their ads, they are not the same on issues. I am in favor of using adult stem cells, but not embryonic cells. We need to vote and show the politicians where we stand. Try to ignore the fear tactics. Please vote.
