Please don't flame me or laugh at me because I'm serious. We have an adopted 4 year old son who has multiple disabilities. Also he is black while we are white. Am I using the correct term in referring to him? He's never going to realize that there are differences between us but I still want to acknowlege his heritage. To make things more complex, we are also hoping to adopt a little girl with similar physical problems who is part Native American. Any suggestions on things I can do for my little ones? Karen

I see it's been along time since you wrote (I never came here however). You should teach him you/we are all the same inside but there are races and he is negro while mom & dad are caucasion(sp). He will likely ask things about the races, so teach him
