During pregnancy, if there is any need of emergency surgery involving the abdomen, this increases the risk of preterm labor and can cause a miscarriage, especially in first three months of the pregnancy. Thus, surgery is usually avoided if it is not going to affect the woman's long-term health. In case of appendicitis surgery is performed immediately as rupture of appendix may be fatal. This normally does not harm the fetus or cause a miscarriage. Actually it is difficult to recognize appendix during pregnancy. The cramping pain of may be taken as normal uterine contractions. Another reason is that the appendix is pushed higher in the abdomen as the pregnancy progresses, so the location of pain does not occur normally where it should have been.

Never knew this, but after getting to read this I can realize the seriousness of the issue. So this makes me ask one thing as to how should we recognize the appendix problems? Again can you give me some tips so that the appendix problem can be avoided during the pregnancy period? I understand that this is an old thread but yet I would be very obliged to get a suitable answer to this.
