Hi everyone. Greg is making progress again! On Friday night - he knew his brother's name, his brother held up one finger and asked how many fingers - and Greg said one, and he touched Greg's nose and asked what it was and Greg said nose!!! Sat - our niece asked him what her name was and he said "Kelly" - which is correct. Sun - he didn't say anything - but he was staring at Cheyenne's ice cream - so I decided to give him some. I felt bad for him. I was kinda nervous as he hadn't had any food yet - and the therapists said he wasn't passing the ice chip test. But I did it anyway - just gave him tiny bites at a time - and he did great. I asked him if it tasted good - and he shook his head yes! So I wrote in our notebook what I did - so that the therapists would see it on Monday and asked them to call me. The respiratory therapist called me and said what I did was fine and she was going to talk to the speech therapist and recommend we do food trials. So this morning the speech therapist called me and said she did start food trials. She gave him about 6 spoons of pudding this morning! He started to cough a little - so that was all she gave him - she didn't want to push him. But at least we know he can eat now and we can work our way up the food list!!! Then tonight - it was just the best night - I got there and had to have the nurse clean him. But then I bent down and asked him what my name was and he said "Cheryl"!!!!!!!!! I just started crying. I was SO awesome to hear him say my name.

So we've had a big last 5 days! I want to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts - you are the best. And everyone stays in my thoughts and prayers daily.

Love
Cheryl

Cheryl, that's wonderful news! Baby steps - but he'll still get there. Hope you're hanging in there and taking care of yourself too.......I've been thinking about you - and you remain in my prayers! Give Greg a big hug and tell him it's from friends he doesn't even know (yet!)

Great to hear the good news.. it sure makes our days when just those "little things" happen..
Keep pushing for things .. hope you are getting some rest.. which is hard to do when you want to be there too.. but make sure you rest too as you need all of your energy for that little angel of yours and when Greg gets home ..
Thanks for keeping us updated.:)

*boogie That is so awesome!!!!!! :D He is a fighter and he will remember more all the time!! Love, family & friends are the best therapy!! :)
I know it helped me!! Playing his favorite music and showing him photo albums and talking about the fun memories... Can help spark memories and break the boardome of staring at a TV all the time!! Listening to music was very therapitic for me but, I had to start off with a very low volume.

*smallrose I know this is a very difficult time for the family and God bless you all!! I know that my family took such good care of me!!! I saw the look of love and concern on their faces. :o It will get better hun, it just takes time and he has a awesome family!!!! God bless you hun!! I hope he continues to heal very quickly!! Please keep us posted on his progress. I will be keeping you all in my prayers!! Tricia

*cg22 God, please be with Greg and help him to heal. Give Cheryl and the family the stregth they need to get through this! Amen

I am very glad to hear about your husband. I know how very precious each sign is. There will be so many more good signs. Hold on to each and every one of them because it will give you so much hope. My mom is almost 5 months out and is having a lot of difficulty so know that it is a long process that requires so much patience. It is very difficult but we will all make it through this. I pray each day for my mom and think of you and so many others going through the same thing. You are in my thougths and prayers.

I remember you posted about a visiting angels organization. Have they been able to help you?? I am just wondering because I might give them a call myself.

My best,
Kim
