Coaster Crazy

I got your private message and responded, however, I'm not sure if you received it. My shunt is not programmable, therefore, I don't exactly know what to tell you. My NS gave me no restrictions following the shunt surgery, however I avoid all roller coasters with a head restraint. Not only do they crush my ears and bang my head, I just didn't feel too great after the ride. I have successfully ridden others with the lap/waist restraints with absolutely no problems. I think each situation is different with each person. Start out small is my suggestion. I couldn't give them up totally!!! Sorry I'm so late getting back to you. Let me know your decision. Stacy.:)

Hey Stacy.
Yes, I did get your response to my PM. Just been kinda busy looking for a job to respond until now. I talked to Debbi Fields from NHF who has a programmable, but hers is a Codman if I remember correctly. She said after one of her revisions, she was at Disney a week (I think) later and rode EVERYTHING. I definitely agree on the lap/waist restraint. At this point, there is only a couple roller coasters at my "home park" (6 Flags Great America) that I remember getting my head banged around on. Last time I was there was a yr ago...with my old shunt, and at that time coasters didn't bother me at all!
Just makes me nervous with the programmable. Like you said, I"ll start slow for sure...go with the mild ones and work my way up as long as I feel OK. I'm gonna hold off just for this year since it's end of season anyway...Park closes Oct 31. I should be good to go for 2007. 8) I can't give them up. Call me crazy, but...I think a lot will depend on what happens with me headache/shuntwise between now and then too...I just want to make sure I'm healed enough before I do anything like that.
