Yes, they want to come for a 2-3hours interview next monday 10/30...huh???? Is this legal? I've been approved for SSD since 6/04, and now LTD wants to interview me???? Whatever, let them come.... my only fear is that sometimes, around guests/new people I don't know, i try to 'refrain'.....like if i'm in public i don't really want to embarrass myself and lie down on the ground,or on a couch....oh, i told him my soon to be 3year old will be here too.....i have nothing to hide.....

Anyone ever heard of this??? my last day of work was Jan '02......they've only interviewed me over the phone and have me fill out tons of paperwork.

thanks a million, Lisa

I had a friend on SSDI and she had LTD and she lost her benefits!!!!!!!
they came and interviewed her for 3hours
she then found out they were following her with a video camera..
she had to go to florida from California when her father died!!! and they said that proved she was able to move around and could do some kind of work!!!

This doesnt mean they will do it to you .. but I would have someone there with me as a witness!!! and if you have a lawyer I would ask him about it.

they stopped her benefits and finally she had to get a RISSA attorney and sue them.. but it took years.. she did finally get a settlement but it was very hard to do!!!

just wanted to make you aware of what could happen

I think they can come. Not sure if you have a attorney I would ask. If you don’t you can call one and they will answer some questions over the phone if you tell them you might be interested or just ask them if they think you need one.

Anyway beware a professional will be coming. They will watch your every move and note everything you say in their report. They know what to say and do to make you do or say something they can discredit your claim with.

I would have a witness there. If possible try to video or tape their visit so if they say you did or said something you will have a chance to explain and show what really happened.

I called my SSD attny and he said that he never heard of an in home interview taking 2-3hrs, but yes they can do it...he gave my the name of a LTD attny, and they confirmned everything he said...

All this for a whopping $100/month...that's all I get from my LTD company! sheesh, it probobly costs them almost a year of my benefits just to fly this guy down from CT and set him up in a hotel.

Are they really going to try and use sneak ways of getting my benefits dropped? To hire a LTD lawyer would cost 5years of what my benefits would be.

Unbelievable. I am nervous. This isn't fair

Thanks again,lisa

If your LTD gets terminated when you have your review for SSD it could count against you. I had a guy come to see me but it was a suprise visit. They usually don't schedule a time. They want to see you with your hair fixed make up. He stopped to see my parents after the visit. He said he felt bad he even had to come see me but said he would not be back. They do this because so many people are wanting a free ride and are going on cruises and lavish vacations. I know people on disability working under the table and it makes me ill to see this. This is why you are having this visit. And you will be reviewed every few years too. My LTD just has my doctor do an updated report. If you get better they can take your benifits also.

This is one too pain wont get or keep your benifits. The reason you can't prove pain.

 I had this exact same thing happen a couple years ago. Naturally I was suspicious. I contacted a local attorney who specializes with the problems this particular insurance company has caused for others. He said, "DO NOT LET THEM IN YOUR HOUSE!!!!" No way, no how. He recommended we meet in a lobby of a local hotel or coffee shop. The interviewer was completely agreeable. My husband accompanied me, parked in the handicap spot and helped me to the interview. I made sure I looked as bad as I feel. He also insisted that the minute we got back in the car, go straight home and go straight back into the house. (And believe me, they know exactly where you live, and may follow you to see if you go shopping with hubby or something) During this interview, the ding dong actually told us he had just gotten his private investigator license. The point is, if they are in the house, they will snoop around, look for computers, signs of crafts/hobbies/ ask lots of personal questions about your kids sports and participation, vacation photos, RV's. You name it, they will notice everything. At an outside safe location, they can only focus on you and your health. It's not too late to call and reschedule the location. Let them know you do not feel comfortable having a stranger in your home. I'm not kidding, this is what I was told to say.....2 plus years later, I'm still getting my benefit checks....Don't walk, run to the phone now and reschedule!

IF they were to walk into my home now, I would throw open the doors. I would show pictures in the scarap ablum what my home should loook like, and now what it is to just exsist.

I have little energy, lack of motovation, just to keep underware and socks done up is a chore. Laundry always to wash, and always to put away. Vacumming, when I beg someone to do it. Dusting, gee, holidays, I have clutter I cannot face to deal with. I burn candles for scent because no fresh scrubbing done, Somewhere under the recent work papers and return from a conference I have a kitchen table.

I lost my ability to organize, it takes every effort to just get through a day. I only work 10 hours a week but it totals me out...I have school loans to pay off and am on soc sec.

I would say, well, enter at your own risk and feel free to pitch in, think you could do something to supply a cleaning person for me?

I am not condemable, but feel so lost of what my new home use to look like, doors and shades open and welcome everyone!
Where does the clutter come from, how do I get rid of it? I hate this life, I just want my health back!

Di
PS, he likely has his report written even before he gets there....BUT I would video the house the day he is there, and ask if you can tape record the interview, IF not at least have someone there. Oh, if at an hour or two you are exhausted, state I am sorry I ahve to relax and nap, do you want to come back or wait in your car until I am up to it. You wouldn't be lieing, you would be taking care of your needs, not pushing the limit for his convienance, for example, he would sa; you ahndled a two and 1/2 hour interview fine, you can manage sedentary work. Your home was remarkable clean, you manage a job.

I did not go through this, but am using thoughts to why they are coming.
For voc review my son met them at a resturante, did not go well, his pain and conditions were intolerable.

I am glad that others had this company and insight to help you though, they can share more then I.

I hate to see the way they treat people who are on disability. Do that do this crap to people too lazy to work who have been on welfare from cradle to grave. A lot of people on welfare have nothing physically wrong with them but they have the mentality like they should be paid to stay home to raise their multiple children. I don't see the government cracking down on these leaches, **** they pay them extra to have additional kids. I read recently where the welfare offices cant drug test people on welfare because that would be against their civil rights. It seems to me it would be against the disabled peoples rights to have someone with a camera following them around all the time. **** I applied for disability in Sept but that doesn't mean I lie in bed everyday wishing to die. that means I cannot do the job I use to do because it hurts my back too much to stay efficient. This subject just makes me upset. I know what it is like to have do depend on someone else to do the smallest things for them and most people who are physically disabled are indeed disabled. I may have good days because if I didn't I would have already shot myself and I wouldn't have to worry about a job. I am not bed ridden but i better tell the SSD dept I am and have proof of it. Right now I have a cousin who receives disability because she is a mental case who doesn't stop having children although she cant take care of the ones she has. She was on welfare for years and now she said she is bi polar just so she doesn't have to do a damn days work although physically she is fine. Why wont the government go check on her crazy *** and leave people who have real surgeries and metal instruments inside their bodies alone. I am sorry if this post was confusing but i just typed what was in my mind. Basically if people have the damn scars and medical surgeries to prove they have pain and surgery then the government should stay off their backs. If someone just says they are disabled without any scars or surgeries and without any substantial proof of a disability then they may need to be looked at closer. Brian

When I said have scars and instruments I meant for someone to have something the doctors can pinpoint such as ruptured disc and spinal stenosis along with any other proven disability. sorry if my wording upset someone. Brian

What is the LTD is it an examination of or a review done to you if you have only already been approved for SSI??

HeyJoe

It's private disability insurance, not SSDI.

Lisa I just wanted to give you support. I hope everything is going great for you. I am trying to get an approval to SSD so I can finally rest my mind. Hang in there. Brian
