Sorry to go off topic, but, we just got a call that my mother in law isn't doing good...she has alzheimers and is in the final stages...they called today, to tell the us to call all out of state family. They said they couldn't say for sure how long she has left, but, she hasn't eaten in 3 days, and has a high fever. She has been out of it, for a long time..not knowing anyone, and her poor body just can't take it anymore. She's not drinking anything also..It's a hard thing to watch..Hubby is taking it pretty hard..so is his siblings. They have her on oxygen now, and that's all they can do...Just wanted to ask yall to say a little extra prayer for her...
We are going to be with her today after hubby gets home..they said it could be very soon, or a few weeks..they just don't know..but, they've never told us to gather out of state relatives before..so that doesn't sound good..

Cindy, Hang in there. My mother has Alzeimers and she is home with my Step-father (bless him). She has been losing her memory and having bizarre behavior for the last couple of years. It is extremely scarey to hear about her condition because she was a very energetic, independent and intelligent woman, all her adult life. Although she is ambulatory, the mother I knew is no longer there.
I will be praying for you during this very difficult time. *bunch

Cindy, My prayers are with your Mom, what a horrible disease Alz is. My Mom also has it, is in Stage 5. You are so right, they are not the same person and it is just a horrible way to die. Prayers for your family too, it is so hard on them also. Take care, Kim

Kim...I constantly worry about getting this. My mother was my age when first diagnosed. This is genetic and is prominant to females. I cannot get tested because nothing is currently available.

Thanks a lot everyone. I just got home to get some rest...they will call if anything changes overnight...Today they did start her on Morphine, she's had 3 doses of it so far today..they give it to her every 2 hours. It seems to make her breathing more relaxed. She doesn't seem to be in any pain right now. So that is good. Family has all been notified and they are on their way..but, some won't be here til the weekend..

Hi, Well I spent the night at the nursing home last night with her, and she stayed stable..except her BP dropped down...her breathing is strained, but, she is on oxygen. Came home today to sleep, and she is still the same..we went back tonight, and BP is still low, but, she is still holding her own..the nurse said, she is a fighter...thanks again for all your prayers, and thoughts...will let you know if things change...thanks for being there...take care..Cindy

thanks everyone...We are leaving now to go see her...her breathing is very slow, and the nurse said her BP was so faint, they couldn't detect it...so hubby just got home, and we are leaving...I'll try to get back on here tonight...god bless you all...thanks for the prayers...take care cindy

Hi, just wanted to let yall know, my mother in law passed away early this morning. She was a fighter til the end..Bless her heart. We are now just waiting for relatives to arrive from other states. Services will probably be held at the begining of the week.
I wanted to say thank you to all of you for all your prayers and thoughts..it really really meant a lot to me..more than you will know.
I will try and get caught up on the site, as soon as things slow down here. Thinking of you all...take good care Cindy

Thank you everyone. I just sat down to unwind a little. Hubby just got home from the nursing home..he and his sister and brother went and cleaned out his moms room..They donated most of her stuff to the home, they thought some of the other patients could probably use it. Some of those patients don't have family around..it's very sad to see.
Things are kind of quiet around here now, but, the next few days will be fast paced. I'll try to get back on here soon...thanks again for yalls kind words, and prayers..take good care Cindy

Again, thank you everyone. I was sitting here trying to wake up this morning, and started to think..I really rely on this site, and all my friendships I have made here. It's soothing to know I can come here and lay my feelings out there and yall understand. thanks for all the support.
