View Full Version : nerve damage - PCP out for pregnancy
Hi all, I have quite a problem coming up. I get all of my pain meds (240tb Percocet/mo) from my PCP and she will be on pregnancy leave around when I am going to run out. I go to a clinic with may doctors though, will one of the others refill this for me? I know some doctors there don't even touch pain mgmt, but I am in the referral queue for a pain mgmt doc. I really can't deal with the pain w/out the meds, and I am scared of withdrawal effects if nobody will write my script..
Will the other docs there fill it or what do I do??
Thankyou for your time all,

When my PCP went out for medical leave he had other doctors that came in for him. I didn't have any problems with my meds other than the new PCP wanted to change the procedure for picking up my scripts. You shouldn't have any trouble as she should have a plan in place but I would ask her how she will handle it.

I would do like Mark said and talk to your Dr before she leaves. That way you have things set up with no worries. Good luck

The most important thing you can do is speak with your doctor before she goes on leave. Make sure you let her know your concerns so that she can make certain to leave detailed notes for the doctor that will be filling in for her.
It's very scary to CP patients when we lose a doctor as we never know if the next doctor will be willing to keep us on the same dose as we're used to getting. In your case it really shouldn't bee a problem as long as you talk to her in advance.

-r, I was wondering if you had your situation worked out yet? I hope you have been in to talk to her or at least were able to call and talk to her over the phone. What solution did you come up with?
