I tore both of my Achilles tendon a year ago Aug7th . Jan 07 I had surgery on my right one and they want to do the left one. But I have had so much trouble with the surgery that I am not going to have it done. I am having so much pain in my heel I can't walk much at all. I went to the Dr Wen and he keeps telling me it is nerve damage and should go way with time. I don't feel it is. You can touch it and i would go thought the roof with pain. What can I do to make it better. I have used Lidoderm patches And they don't help. I have done PT and no help. It just is not getting better at all. Should I go to a new Dr? I also have been in casts and boots. It will feel better while in the cast. But as soon as they come off the pain it right back. It is really making me feel that I will not be able too walk again right with out pain. One more thing. I think the Dr has been milking my ins. I had a credit for 3,554.51 for over payment from Ins co. But I was never told till this last visit. But he did use them for my office visits. But I should have been told. I have to go back and see how many times I went to see him. And help would be great.

I even had shots in them.Did no good. Just hurt like heck when he did it. But didn't help with my pain.

Dear Debhun,

I tore my Achilles tendon some years back....It is a horrible thing....I went through a steady stream of different doctors and therapists....but there was one woman who had just gotten out of school. She lay on the floor and watched me walk and her suggestions were the ones I followed....didn't like what she said, but I did it....It healed....

There was one spot on the bottom of my foot that when you put pressure on it, it was as if someone stuck a needle straight up my foot about 2 inches...The limping was making my spine injuries worse and it was turning into a domino effect....

She told me to buy some insoles for my shoes...I pushed on the spot, on the bottom of my foot, and found just the exact place, and dabbed a little bit of mustard on it, with a Q-tip.....then slipped my foot in my shoe....at the spot the mustard marked, on the insole she told me to cut about 1/16th of an inch deep, in depth, a small circle with one end open like a horseshoe....and to taper the depth out that end.....because she didn't want me to form a callus and start another problem....

The shoes I wore had to be lace up your ankle short boots.....hiking type boots...It was important that the foot be held from side to side shifting....I was never to stand barefoot....when I got out of bed, before I put my feet on the floor I had to have my shoes on and laced up.....I was to do everything in my power to stay off of my feet.....for two years....!!!....I know....it was the hardest thing ever....she didn't even want me to stand to do the dishes...I used a stool to prop my self against....no long walks, or hiking....I was to use my foot stretched out in front of me, and write the alphabet in cursive with it, in the air, every day......

She told me that everytime I took a step it was like pounding on the injury with a hammer....and my body would keep sending blood, to the injury at that spot, which just compounded the inablity to heal....It would never heal unless I kept off my feet....It took about 1 1/2 years.....but it worked......One day I could walk again with no pain....

This was a woman who was helping me try to heal my Self....I have no idea what operations could do for you.....I just could not take the pain, so I limped, and my spine and neck injury were having none of that......

I hope some of this might help you, in some way.....I remember just feeling insane from it......

Blessings to you.......
Hummer

OMG you Know what I am going though to the Tee. With the stuck needle straight up my foot.

The surgery he did was to repair my torn Achilles. I have 3 pins in my heel.
Hey I will try any thing at this point. I have tryed the walking on the beach cause of the sand thought that would help. Done PT you name it. I just want to walk with no pain. I cook dinner with a stool. But I do go bearfoot in the house. I hate shoes. I guess that is the south in me LOL.

Thank you so much. I will try is. Thanks again. I am blown away to what you said. cause that is me to the tee.

Deb I'm sorry to hear that your still having so much pain from this!! It really sounds like Hummer know exactly how you feel with the pain.

I know what you mean about the barefoot thing, I'm in Florida and I hate wearing shoes, LOL!! I hope you're able to try the things that Hummer suggested as it sounds like it worked!!

Take care and stay off of that foot!!

Feet are tough for us pain guys to treat. I'd go back to your Ortho foot guy or Podiatrist and see if they need further imaging or need to re-evaluate your condition. With hardware in there, anything is possible. maybe get a second opinion. This is too complicated to provide any blanket advice as it would take imaging, H&P, and op notes to figure out where to begin..

Thanks for your input Dr Steve. I just want to walk again with no pain. I messed it up again today. I was going to try what Hummer said. I had a pair of boots and I was walking in the house and some how turned my ankle and something poped and that burn pain from he!!!!!!!. I couldn't move for a few mins there. Tears going down my face. DH was in the shower. So got on my hands and knees to get to a chair. I really give up here. I have nowhere to turn too. I have no ins any more. So going to the Dr is out. So I will stay off of it and put ice and heat. Only thing I know what to do. Oh and I put my cast boot back on. So that will keep it inmoble.

But any ways thank you.
