My brother was complaining about a headache for months! We all thought it was stress related and thought nothing of it. Friday (10/19/07), our father had to rush him to a free clinic because he lost his vision in his left eye. Many hours later he was rushed to Borgess hospital in Kazoo, MI. We were told he had a large aneurysm behind his left eye. The location was were the eye nerves cross. He had surgery the next morning to put a clip in. On Monday they did an angiogram and found the clip had slipped and was only covering 80%. On Tuesday they did the coiling to fix the 20%. Wednesday afternoon he had a seizure. I just wish I had someone to talk to, to ask questions, I guess to tell me everything will be OK. I'm just lost and freaking out right now and looking for some comfort. Thank you for your time, Holly

Hang tough Holly. It's real early yet and he is where he needs to be. Clippings and coilings and seizures are common around here. I have never heard about combo clip/coil but they make inroads on procedures all the time. Seizures are scary but not uncommon. I know it's hard but ralex and read the past posts and you will read much unfo on all. Don't panic and be positive. You can do it!

Holly,
Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have. Someone most likely has gone through it and could give their opinion. Hang in there!

Seizures are common, and having the coiling is the best thing they could of done. I am a survivor of 2 years from 2 brain aneurysms rupturing at the same time while I was sleeping. I have had 11 surgeries in 21 months. My Faith and Trust got me through and I am here to be support for you.
I will pray for your brothers as he is in God's and the Doctor's hands.

*bunch Hi sweetie, I am so sorry to hear about your brother!! How old is he & what is his name? I know this is a big shock to everyone in the family!! I too had a rupture next to my left optical artery and communicationg arteries, my 2year anniversary for my 2 surgeries was 10/12. I was 45 when mine happened, I had mine stented and coiled with complications also. I had trouble getting a diagnosis, so I have a longer healing process. I have come a long way but, it has been a long hard road for me. I use to be a firefighter before my aneurysm. My husband is a F.F. & full time EMT, so we already knew a lot about this kind of thing. It was such a shock when it happen to me! I had no warning signs before the rupture.
Everyone is different!! It is going to take time to see how quickly he will heal?? He is still very early on in his recovery. It takes the brain a long time to heal after going through what he has been through! Prayers and love are very much a part of the healing process!
*cross I will keep your family in my prayers!! Patience and love are the best medicine!! What is his status right now?? Have the Dr.'s explained everything to you?? What questions do you have? We will be glad to answer all we can!!
He will be very fatigued and need to sleep a lot for a while. The brain needs good sleep to heal! I am still sleeping a lot myself after battling insomnia for almost a year. There is a book that my sister got for me that might help your family to understand a lot!! It is called, " THE MILD TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY WORKBOOK ". My sister found it at the book store but, it is also available on line, and only cost $20.00. It also has workbook pages for him to do when he is ready to do them. It helped us a lot! I know that it is sometimes harder on the family to deal with. Just being there for him and prayers are so helpful!!
Please let us know what your questions are and we will try to help answer them. I am so sorry your brother is going through this as well as the family!! Please let us know his status and keep us posted!!! I will be keeping you all in my prayers!! Tricia
*cg22 God bless your brother and your family!!! He is there and hears your prayers!! I pray that he heals quickly!!

Holly , your brother is lucky ,his aneurysm was found & fixed , the recovery from these surgerys can be slow in compairsion to other surgerys ,& everyone is differant but he is in the early stage of recovery . How old is he ? the young seem to recover faster . What has his Dr,. said in regards to his recovery ? Seizures are reason for concern, but they do happen to a lot of us in the early part of our recovery due to the swelling & he had 2 surgerys . His Dr. should answer that question ,& calm your fears . Keeping you in my prayers & sending posative vibes .
