I have been trying to straighten out a problem with medicare part D and I keep getting the run around. Normally I am a very patient and easy going person but these fools are enough to give me a heart attack.

What 's going on is I receive full subsidy from the state for my part D. Which means the state is supposed to pay for my monthly premiums. The problem is that the SSA keeps taking the money for the premium out when they shouldn't be. ARRGGH!!

I have been trying to fix this since August and everytime I call the SSA they tell me to call my plan provider and my plan provider tells me to call the SSA. Meanwhile no one is doing anythng to fix this. To make matters worse the person I just spoke with thought I wanted to cancel medicare when I said no such thing. Do these people take a course in incompetence or are they hand picked to be that way.

I am done venting now.

I see you are from Maine, I was born there. Looks like we are having the same problem with medicare part d, I was made aware at my doctors office that I no longer get extra help from medicaid, so I called medicare and they confirmed that I did not get state help from medicaid and I no longer was getting state help for part paying part d. Then also told me that my check for september would be 3 months of part d payments taken out, sure enough almost 300.oo taken out of my 700.00 check. Then I knew I had to take it up with medicaid and applied thru the computer, all I got was a denial so I had to go to the office and I was told that they sent me paperwork asking for more information and I never responded, I never got the paperwork, so I had to reapply. I told them I never got the paperwork and I was called a liar and was told I must of recieved them because they never got them back, nor would they sign a reciept saying they now had the required paperwork, I still have not heard from them, they have two more days. I have had three drug plans at once and was told I could not opt out of two without going to some more hassle. I am getting disability for bi polar and numerous other things, besides being a *****, and I am also responsible for my eighty year old mothers caretaking. It took me over 3 years to get disability and I think I am worse off because of all the hassle of trying to keep my sanity in order to keep it. I wish you luck try your medicaid office and hopefully you will get someone who can walk you thru it. I don't vent anymore I yell, fume and threaten until I get a supervisor who speaks English as a primary language. I recieved this week a government form telling me that I am no longer going to be eligible automatically I will have to apply each year for help the following year. I did not get the reasons in writing from the govt until after they took out my 300.00 for previous part d. Let me know how you do with this and well see which staate is more screwed up, I am betting on Florida. By the way they edited the five letter word that begins with a b and ends with a h, my neighbors kids have a more colorful vocabulary and they are in grade school.

Hi, I am also on Medicare Part D. You are right. We fight for years for our Social Security and then we still have to hassle with the system. I was told by my caseworker that I was deemed 100% eligible subsidy. Well, the medicare part D insurance didn't think so. I was on the phone for 2 hrs. until finally I called medicare. Not Medicare Part D, but medicare. The lady said that Medicare Part D needs to look in the Medicare website and they will see where I am subsidy eligible. So I called the insurance place back and told her that. She looked and said yes you are eligible. I was also eligible for the state to pay my medicare part B premiums. After taking out of my check for two months, they finally got that straightened out, after I did the footwork. I actually told them, I fought for my social security for 2 1/2 yrs. I thought that after I was approved that I could actually relax and not have any pressure, but that was a laugh. I tried to be pleasant with them, but it was hard. I wish you luck. Try having the Medicare Part D look at the Medicare website. Good Luck, Pam-OH

I find it so confusing that trying to explain what we go thru is often incomprehensible. Why in the **** did they call one program medicare and another medicaid?

This urban legend has been circulating for many years. I just wanted to let you know that all congressmen have been paying into social security since 1984. Prior to that time they paid into the civil service retirement system. I do agree that they receive sizable salaries and probably don't have to worry too much about their retirment.

Hi Quahog

I posted on your other post, but it might help to make an appointment with the SS office and actually go in and speak with somebody in person - I find they are A LOT more helpful when they are dealing with you live than over the phone

good luck

Linda
