My father-in-law has been suffering from type 2 diabetes for the past three years. Although his condition is very much under control, I would still prefer to know how to control hypoglycemia and what its symptoms are. I have heard it is a common diabetic problem. Please explain. Thanks in advance!

Hi nerman & welcome to BT. We do have a diabetes forum here,so that's where I encourage you to post so you'll draw more attention.
Symptoms of hypoglycemia: weakness, sweating, perhaps even slurring words. How to prevent? Always carry protein snacks,I keep nuts & string cheese in a small cooler if I know I'll be gone for any amount of time. the main thing is to keep food in the system on a regular basis, never skip a meal! Bananas or OJ are good for a quick sugar lift but should be used in small amounts only or they will spike the blood sugar too high. Moderation is the key.
A diabetic might not notice what is happening! Never be shy about shoving food at someone you suspect is suffering from low blood sugar, they might argue they are fine! Outburst of anger is a very good indicator the person needs to eat.
People can faint from too low of blood sugar,or act like they are drunk. this is why wearing a bracelet is helpful. Coma would be the next phase.
Hope this helps,Buttons
