My mother had two aneurym's in July of this year. She had both coiled at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, OH and was doing very well immediatley post op. She was in ICU for around 6 weeks and was eventually released to a long term care facility. She has been in a long care facility since being released and is now close to being released from this facility to go home. My question relates to therapy. My father has been able to find a physical therapist, but has not been able to find an occupational therapist. How critical is occupantional therapy and is there anyway to locate qualified occupational therapists in the area? The long term care facility has been of little help in this area

Occupation therapy is important. Maybe you could contact an hospital or your mom's doctor's office and ask them. I know when I was released from rehab I went to out patient therapy at a locate hospital who had an company that worked out of the hospital for different therapy. Maybe the long term care place has social workers who could help in setting this up. Use whatever help is out there. Or maybe the county social workers could recommend places also. Dawn

Perhaps the physical therapist can recommend someone. I didn't have PT or OT after my annie was coiled, but I did have both after suffering a minor stroke (unrelated to my annie, which was found while they tried to figure out what caused the stroke). Both therapists were part of the same office. Best of luck.

When hubby first came home we got therapy thru Easter Seals. If they don't do it anymore, they could probably recommend one. Another thing to try is see if you can find a physiatrist in the area and see if he/she could recommend someone. (A physiatrist is a physician who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation. A physiatrist evaluates and recommends treatments to restore function in people ).

Have you contacted the local VNA. They often know what is available in their area.
