I got my NEW OLD van Friday night!! Its a 79 Dodge Maxiwagon. Yup another gas eater. lol It has a wheelchair lift in the rear tho I think it was made more for a child than an adult. I have to lower my head and lower the back of my chair to get in. I got it last night. I filled it up with gas today ( $57.00). God Blessed me. It only cost $1,200. That included everything (taxes, fees, licenseing).
Caleb used the lift yesterday to put his amp, guitar, skateboard ramp in the van to take to a friends. When I used it to try to lower my powerchair I noticed the cable to the remote was pinched under the lift. It wouldnt lower me to the ground. I dont know if it happened with Caleb tho I know he wouldnt admit to it and he might not know... When I got it unstuck the rubber is ripped and its not fully working. Im also not sure if maybe like I said its made for the weight of a child and not for an adult and chair so not equipped for that much weight. It kept coming off the grip. I might try using it JUST to lift the chair which means me going in and out of van to load and unload if I dont have the boys to help me because there is no controls inside. BUT at least I dont have to LIFT the RAMP I had that weighed about 40 pounds. :o) I did have to lift this ramp manually some today to close it and reattach it but then it stayed. Im soooooooo glad not to have to be renting cars again or carrying the portable ramp around anymore unless I HAVE to for other purposes. :o)
It needs its powersteering belt replaced or tightened.. The boys dad SAYS he will fix it.. I HOPE so..
Here are a few pics Noah took of it.. including the "top of the line stereo" ;o) and the drivers seat which is in pretty good condition and the area behind the drivers seat where I put my powerchair or my walker or today I had both of them. :o) LOTS of room.
It only has 95,000 miles on it for almost 30 yrs old. It runs REAL well for its age except the the squeeling. Mike says it has a new transmission. Im sooooooooooo happy. Now to get the loan I took out for it paid off!!! 25% interest!!!! EEEKK.. Thank you SOOOOO MUCH for your prayers!!!
Just like I had been praying for.. :)
Blessings,
