SSA offered the best non-Pepsi, non-Coke cola in 1980 with a 14.3 percent increase in benefits. Of course those were also the years when inflation was out of control and money market funds were returning 16 percent interest!

That's dh's luck. He always misses the big ones! Of course in this case, that's a good thing. If he was disabled in 1980, we would have really been in trouble at the old age of 20!

I bet we will never see a double digit increase ever again. 2.3% is better than nothing, though!

Yes, 2.3% is better than 0, BUT, (and there always is a 'but') wait till we see the increase in supplemental and PFFS premiums....It will snatch that 2.3 right up plus more. oh hummm....

I guess none of the people who determine the cola for the year have cars that run on gas.. Essentials have risen this year to outragous rates... its funny, but even with gas being thru the roof, milk still has it beat by a few bucks a gallon.. maybe we should all buy cows and ride them to the store...

Bite your tongue! That would mean I'd have to get up four hours earlier to make it to work on time! How in the heck would dh get a cow 'warmed up' in the morning for me? Oh, and do they let cows park in the handicapped spaces? Where would you hang the placard?
