Okay since the Trazadone didn't work my rheumy gave me Sonata 5 mg. Has anyone here tried this? Any side effects? How about the cost of the med., is it high?
Thanks in advance for your input. I hate to fill yet another script without knowing everything about it.;)

I tried it a couple of years ago and it seemed to help. I had the 10mg though..
It worked for a while than it stopped. I guess like most meds your system gets accustomed to it. I guess everyones system is different , It may work well for you,,
Good luck

Dan,
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have tried all kinds of sleep meds and most of them will work for about 2 weeks and then they stop.
During the time that this worked for you did you have any side effects?
Again thanks for your response!!

Lisa, I just wanted to wish you good luck with this sleep aid and I hope it works for you.

Mark thanks for your well wishes. I'm waiting for some more responses on here before I just go and fill it. I haven't had very good luck with sleep aids and I hate to waste the money if it doesn't work.

I have also tried many sleep aids.. The Sonata actually made me drowsy enough to get to sleep, with a little lingering drowsiness in the morning. Unlike Ambien where I just dident remember lieing in bed the night before. Ambien stopped working for me as well, Even the CR. I would fill the prescription as it may work well for you, even a couple weeks of sleep would be worth the try...
I tried it maybe 5-6 years ago (?) and it didn't work that well for me, but my body is weird so who knows.
The mechanism of action is similar to how Ambien and Lunesta work. Even if Ambien or Lunesta didn't work for you, though, this might still work, because everyone is different. I know that, for me, Ambien works pretty well for a month or two, but then I need to take a week or two off of it to get it to work again. Tolerance, I guess. My shrink said that tolerance is supposed to be less of a problem with this class of sleep meds than with the benzos, but that there are still people who develop tolerance to them.
I'm not sure if there is a generic for Sonata yet. I know that generic Ambien came out sometime this past year (but not Ambien CR).
I have tried probably every sleep med they've ever made. I'm a terrible sleeper, so I know how much it sucks to not be able to sleep. Hope that you get some relief.

I found it tonight when I was searching side effects on another med I am taking.
Its nice because you can read all the comments on one page.
Good luck and happy surfing!

Thanks GG!! I just got done with your first link and most of the people said the Sonata is junk. I was hoping to hear something better than that but it's good to read about this now before I was the money getting it.

I know you already got your answer, but I just have to pipe in since I hated it so very much myself. I already suffer from migraines, and it made sure that I had one any time I took it, and it kept me awake to make sure I suffered as much as possible through the pain!
It must work for someone though????? Or maybe not!
