You will have to check carepage Becca2001 for details about this week and pics. I am not feeling well, and just cannot type it all out again.
Bottom line is that all her seizures while there for the video EEG this week, the shorter complex partials and even the 20 minute simple partial that occurred Wed. evening. . . they all started in the left temporal lobe.
This matched the mesial temporal sclerosis. This matches how she presents clinically and the emotion after. This matches everything. She prefromed well and there are no big surprises. Thank God.
So we forge on. She is a strong surgical candidate. This week was not easy by any means, but it is done and brought good news.
Thanks all.

So glad that it went so well in capturing the seizures and that it matches up so well with what her seizures are at home and the Mesial Temporal Sclerosis!!
She does sound like a very good candidate! I am sorry that you are not feeling well!!
Rest up and get well soon! VEEGS are so grueling and taxing all alone, let alone when you do not feel well!!

(((((((((((((((((Kathleen)))))))))))))))))))).
It just keeps comin', huh?? I'm relieved to hear she's a good candidate, but it must be such a nightmare to internalize the idea of more surgery. :( I just hope it does the trick.
Love,
LIZARD, always thinkin' of ya ;)

Kathleen-
Boy does reading your carepage bring back memories! Jake had his hemispherectomy 6 weeks ago today and I tell you it seems like just yesterday he had his 12 day video EEG (beginning on May 29th). I know it seems endless and overwhelming right now, but the news is good!! I remember one of the techs asking us about when we were coming back for surgery when we were about to leave, before we even got the results, and thinking "phew, that must mean it really is focal". Then I let out a deep breath and realized just how nervous I'd been that we would hear the seizures were coming from all over. I'm so glad Becca will be a candidate for surgery. Jake hasn't had a seizure since two days before surgery (August 29th). I am crossing all fingers and toes because I hate to even write those words down. It has been so worthwhile - all the worrying and tests and pain.
Please pm me if you want to talk offline about this and I'll send you my number.
Hang in there and hugs to you all,
Amy
