I was started on Opana 5 mg yesterday and I am reading that people doseages at up to 20 mg . The 5mg really was way to much for me. what do you think ? THANKS

5mg twice daily is consider acceptable for a opioid-naive patient. Since you are not suppose to break these tablets .. recommended dosing is 1 hr before or two hrs after meals... BUT ... you might want to take a dose right after main/biggest meal... that should slow down the absorption and MAY give you pain relief without some of the side effects.

If you are taking the Instant release formula then it is acceptable to break the tablets. However do not do this with the ER or extended release formulas
