Arianna has begun standing and cruising now. She does not walk independently yet, she hasn't found her balance yet. But she is always standing around the house and holding onto stuff. She stands on the couch, on the chairs everything and of course she falls alot and it always seems like she goes head first. She got up on a little kid chair in day-care (she goes to daycare at the gym) and the ladies said she fell off and she fell on her head. She had a goose egg on her forehead. I always stress out after she falls because I worry about her rattling her shunt but so far she has been fine. I don't want to shelter her so much she doesn't explore and become stronger but I am wound up so tight because of her shunt. We have had zero shunt problems so far.

((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))).

My shunt has had the crap kicked out of it, and it's still going after 26 years! I have whacked it, fallen on it, etc, and it's still goin' like the Energizer Bunny! :) Unless she is confused, lethargic, vomitting, or continues to be excessively clumsy afterward, there's no reason to worry. ;) Shunts are very durable and can handle all kinds of jarring, falls, and hits. You have every reason to believe all the normal bumps and bruises will just pass and become distant memories. :)

:p though I have had quite a few replacements NONE of my problems have come about from falling and/or hitting my head, which due to my CP occurred A LOT, especially in primary school! One time falling off my trike I hit my head so hard I knocked myself unconscious - NO DAMAGE TO EITHER OF MY TWO SHUNTS! weird lol they seem pretty durable

Hope Arianna like Lizard has many many SURGERY-FREE PAIN-FREE years ahead of her and that you as her mum have slightly less anxiety

Hugs ***
