I went and picked up my results from the rheumie today and I tried to look up about how to read them and while I managed somewhat the results don't tell me anything. According to rheumie everything was fine except for inflammation showing up. So if anyone can help I can put the levels that were off, either high or low.
C Reactive Protein 3.352 [<1.0] High cardiac risk?? <3 is average
BUN 23 [6-20] high
Glucose 108 [74-106] high

white blood cell count 12.7 [4-10.8] high
GFR NON AFR/AM 84 [90-130] low I couldn't even find this
MCV 95.4 [80-96] right on edge of high

I don't know if anyone can help me but trying to rely on docs to explain it is vague and annoying. maybe a different forum? I dont' know.

For one it looks like you have a bladder infection,,A little bit of Atibiotics would do the trick...The other stuff I'd have to look up but they look like they are just a little bit high...Most docs don't do anything unless they are more than a little high in my experience.

Are you a smoker? I ask cause I had BT done and some thing were a little high and he told me that it was cause I was a smoker. This was the first time it ever showed up on my Blood work. Funny how every thing is from smoking. But I have good lungs. Go figure. Wish I could help.

quick question, was your blood-work done fasting or did you eat before they took the blood sample? That will affect your glucose levels.

High SED rate would indicate inflamation, but you already knew ya had that right? I was told years ago that bloodwork is useless for RA. Your B12 isn't too high, I suggest you get some B12 & see if that helps with some of your symptoms. Lots of good info on the vit. forums here.
What you need to keep in mind is that different labs have different criteria for what is considered HIGH. You doc should answer these questions for you! Or perhaps the nurse? I keep copies of all my bloodwork to make comparison's,sometimes that can create a "picture" to share with the doc.

I would ask about the high white cell count. And you might want to keep an eye on that high glucose also, even chewing sugar free gum prior to the urine test can throw it off! And DUH I only found that tidbit out last year, was diagnosed type 2 diabetic 9 yrs ago.

Try these:
http://www.naturalhealthtechniques.com/BasicsofHealth/lab_result_meaning1.htm
http://www.labtestsonline.org/
Both are sites that explain labwork.

no smoking, may have had some coffee but not a fasting draw, why didn't she say anything about a possible UTI? Jeez seems important to me. Thanks guys, I just ask because with FMS diagnosis and chronic pain I was wondering if anything over the counter such as vitamins and supplements might contribute to feeling well. I have no clue really what the heck I was looking for. Will talk to PCP when i see him next.

My thoughts-- and just my thoughts-- on many of the "low and high" results, it is just above the normal ranges, so I wouldn't worry too much about specific result in those levels-- but ask your doctor to see if there may be a pattern that could point to something specific...... I've had may slightly off values and they have for the most part meant nothing signifigant was wrong.....
