[I][FONT="Book Antiqua"]I Have Had PN For a very long time & I take several meds Like we all do. I would like to ask if any one has this problem.I wake up several times at night with terrable stinging all over my body & very hot. I have to get up & try to walk then move around . then I go back to bed & go back to sleep. For ladies it Is like having really bad hot flashes. My mornings are the same. My body stings all, over. I grab my cup of water & take the oxycontin & Lyrica & try to move a little. I try to have a cup of coffee . then I take 2 Percocet 10 / 325 The whole process takes about 1 hour before I am able to function. Then It starts to ease up. That Is the way every day Is.
Of course the pain never goes away,The Pain meds just Takes the edge off. If anyone has this same problem please tell me. I am 74 & have had PN since 1991. Thank you !!! God Bless & Wishing All Less Pain

Have you told your doctor about this? It may be a drug interaction. Did you have any medicine changes prior to this happening?

The only thing I can relate too is I had burning and stinging in every area before it went numb. But when I took my anti-seizure meds (neurontin, etc. and last one Lyrica) I had even more of it!! Plus swelling and then in a day or two red rash looking thinggys on my legs that I think were from not enough oxygen or some weird thing. I do better just taking the pain medicine. Hope someone else can tell you something that will help.

last seen your neuro or changed meds. I find when something 'new' or 'different' happens, that calling the doc's office w/a short run-down of the changes & the question "Should I be concerned, worried or see you?" is a cheap and easy way to lower your stress level. I usually get a call back in a day or 3 w/a stop the new med or they'll fit me in on X day...

We all react so differently to meds -any change in dose or addition stirs up the mix.

Monday morning make the call & let us know what's going on---please! - j

Hi Joanna,
It very well could be a medication problem, i definatly agree that you should consult with your doctor and explain whats been happening to you.

Seeing that you have to wait an hour or so before you get any relief from your meds in the morning, could you change the time when you take your pain killers , i mean could you have them next to you in bed and take then a couple of hours before you actually get up out of bed seeing that you are awake during the night so it gives them a chance to work on you before you get up, or perhaps a med that is slow release [works for 12 hours] so there is a constant even flow of the pain controll for you.
I hope things improve for you soon

What other medications are you using? Some drugs deplete important nutrients, and this leads to further problems.

Niaspan? or Niacin? These are used to treat cholesterol elevations and cause
tingling/flushing.

Do you turn red during these episodes? Do you itch? Do you sweat?
