I went to the ER because of massive bleeding in my stool-then I went to a specialist, and he said I had a large tumor in my intestines.
My symptoms have been: blood in stools, abdominal cramps, weight loss, nausea, very weak and tired
I have to have a colonoscopy next week, but I was always under the assumption that only older people can get colon cancer,
I am very nervous...Could I have colon cancer?

yes, i can understand that you are nervous.
while it is true that the rate of colon cancer increases after age 50, colon and any other type of cancer can occur in younger people.
your risk of cancer increases in certain cases:
-having a family history of colon cancer
-inflammatory bowel disease
-history of polyps in the colon
-being of black or ashkenazi jewish descent
-physical inactivity; being overweight
-a high intake of animal sourced fat
-smoking and drinking
-diabetes
you can go to google.com and type in "colon cancer" and read about the disease and treatments.
you are possibly weak because your blood loss has caused anemia. your doctor can tell you this with a simple blood test.
since you are young, you have a great chance of fighting colon cancer if you do have it. it is never too late to start eating healthy, meaning more fruits and vegetables and foods high in fiber. exercising regularly is important also.
you can also ask your doctor about supplementation with extra vitamin d, especially if you do not get enough sunlight or if you live in a 4 season climate.
try not to worry until you have the results of your colonoscopy. i know that it is hard.
a tumor is any large mass. it can be a large polyp. it can be benign.
think positively.
i hope things work out well for you.

Vitamin D Appears to Cut Breast and Colorectal Cancer Risk (http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/552033) investigators found that patients with serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D of approximately 52 ng/mL had a 50% lower risk for breast cancer than those with serum measuring less than 13 ng/mL. This level corresponds to a vitamin D intake of 4000 IU per day,
As this level of supplementation also helps ensure you have optimal health it seems sensible to take an effective amount through the Winter.

Even with a strong family history of colon cancer - father and grandfather - my GP was still not concerned because at the time I was a 37 year old woman. Well, I perservered, was tested and had a large polyp removed. Fortunately for me it was benign, but if I had ignored the warning signs . . .
This disease is more common later in life, but can occur earlier. I am tested regularly and I am 50 now and have never had another polyp. My daughter has the same family history plus rectal cancer in her paternal grandmother. She is 18, but you can bet by 35 she will be checking.
